Very interesting
One never knows what another person has been through or going through. Many people have different ways of dealing with their problems . Some lash out, some hurt others or themselves. So before you judge someone ask yourself if you have been in their shoes.

Another tough teen topic beautifully written
If you’re a fan of Ellen Hopkins, you’re a fan of Ellen Hopkins. I have never read a singe book I didn’t like, and the way she tackles hard subjects with beautiful prose and poetry helps you learn through the difficult parts. I have young children, and I know that I can turn to these bikes when the toughest questions are asked.

I'd actually give this 4.5 stars.
I'm really glad I finally read a book by Ellen Hopkins. I really love deeper, disturbing reads (but not horror, mind you) especially when they're psychological or existential. I figured this would be a great author to read from. And it did deliver. I do think that the poetic writing style contributed to how heavily the stories of the characters impacted me and it's incredibly unique, which made me like it even more.Personally I found that all three of the main characters had unique stories and I liked that when they all interacted, you could get the point of views from each of them instead of just having one character that we know the thoughts of. I like knowing each characters perspectives on the situations. There were some shocking moments, and some disturbing moments as to be expected. Although a little watered down on the disturbing side but this isn't an adult novel so it's to be expected. At the time of purchasing this novel, I also took the chance and bought two other Hopkins novels, just based on the assumption that I would like them (as in, perhaps I should have just bought one first to see if I enjoy it, then I can go out and buy more). And I'm glad I liked Impulse because now I'm looking even more forward to read the other two books I got.

Great story!
This book is amazing, just like all the other Ellen Hopkins books! As for the actual purchasing and receiving, this book came to me in perfect condition from the seller. When you first get the book, it looks a bit daunting because of how thick the book is, but don't worry, it's all in free verse poetry so the pages are rarely even half filled with words. Seriously, it's a great read!

Anything Ellen Hopkins is my favorite. She is always able to suck you into her books and you can never put them down. She is able to capture the heartache and struggles of each different character; even though each one struggles in a different way. She shows how something can seem so perfect but be so incredibly broken. Always an excellent read.

A great book!
I really liked the characters and their similarities and differences. The author did a great job writing about how each of their past experiences molded them and ultimately led them to attempt suicide. She did an excellent job continuing their character growth and relationships throughout the book. The portrayal of life in the hospital was lacking and inaccurate though, and it would've been nice to get a small glimpse of them leaving the hospital. I found one aspect of some of characters at the end of the book to be a bit too much - don't worry - I worded it carefully so that it isn't a spoiler. Overall it was a really good book!

One of Ellen Hopkins' Best
This book (and really all of Ellen Hopkins' books) are simply amazing. I myself spent a few days in a psychiatric hospital, and this book is VERY accurate in that regard. Following 3 kids who all struggle with teenage problems, it follows them as they work to improve their mental states in a psychiatric program. The ending is the best part of the book, very bitter-sweet. Also, a companion novel following one of the character's sister, Perfect, is out as well-I have yet to read it but really look forward to reading it. Definitely worth the read.

Not as crap as Identical but...
After starting Identical and putting it down within the first 50 pages (child abuse and rape is NOT my cup of tea) I was a little wary of reading this one, but I loved Burned, which was sitting on my shelf, waiting for a new Ellen Hopkins book to join it. So I picked this one up and started reading. As you do with books. Anyone tells you otherwise, they're lying. This one wasn't as crap as Identical but wasn't as good as Burned either. I was just bored to be honest. The book hooked me from the beginning and I loved finding out about Tony, Conner and Vanessa's lives but towards the middle I just stopped caring so much and wasn't surprised by the ending at all, as Ellen seemed to connect with this character less than the others.Ellen Hopkins absolutely hates these characters. I felt sorry for J.K. Rowling's characters, at least she gave them a quick death, Ellen is letting them suffer slowly and won't even let them die. Neglect, Child Abuse, Rape, Self Harm, Drugs, it got sillier the more I read on, which is were found myself not giving a damn - because it because less believable to be honest. And then there's Vanessa. Vanessa appears to be the hottest girl on the face of the planet and can even turn a gay guy straight. Both Tony (the gay guy in question) and Connor have the hots for her the moment they see her and it's just a question of who gets her, of course. There's some pretty crappy sappy (hey that rhymed) romance, deep talk crap later on and I think I skimmed over before my brain turned to mush and I started eating the book.Overall, Burned isn't getting a partner yet. I plan to read the sequel, Perfect as that's told by Connor's twin sister Cara and I'm really hoping that it's not as stupid. I'll keep trying Ellen's books, I'm sure one day Burned with have a similar book sitting next to it, proudly on the shelf.

Ellen Hopkins is amazing
Every book I’ve read by Ellen is brilliant and gripping, she writes in verse and to me it’s easier to read than perhaps prose. She deals with difficult topics among young people but they’re great depictions every time, every young person should read her books!

Incredible insight into the minds of hurt teenagers
An incredible, very powerful gripping book. Sadness, happiness and wonder plague this well written book. I wouldn't say it was just for teenagers but for anyone with an interest in life, thought pattern, psychology, mental health or poetry. Extremely well written, i can't stress my fondness for this book enough. Recommended to anyone and everyone.

Raw & Real.
I loved this although it was uncomfortable to read at times. It was raw, real and really made you think about life. There are so many fantastic quotes in this book! The characters were all so different and all had their own story to tell, and had their own unique voices. I loved the story and writing, and can't wait to read more of Ellen Hopkins books!
