works to heal, but leaves a slight oily residue on skin
This is a modest portion of “healing” ointment designed to help with very dry skin. My main application of this was on the backs of my hands, especially near the base of my thumbs where the skin was red, itchy, and flaking. I used this irregularly for over a week to see if there was a change over time and a reduction of syptoms. Indeed, there was. The redness and flaking were gone and it was no longer itchy. While I found this effective, I did find that it doesn't absorb super well and leaves a very thin oily/greasy film on my hands for awhile after applying it. You can see it as a shiny sheen on your skin for awhile after application. I'm guessing this is related to the fact that the main ingredient is mineral oil. In fact, my best guess is that you could get exactly the same benefits from using actual baby oil/mineral oil on your skin just after a shower. The biggest benefit of this as compared to mineral oil is that it's easier to manage as it's not a liquid. You can more effectively spread a little or a lot in a controlled fashion. So, I'm a bit torn about this in terms of the increased cost of the ointment as opposed to the cost of a bottle of mineral oil. This is about 3x the cost for the same benefit. Ultimately, I think that for someone like me who mainly has issues with her hands, this is probably a better fit as I can't be slathering my hands with mineral oil and still go about my day, but I can use this provided that I don't mind a tiny amount of residue coming off onto whatever I'm touching.

Petroleum Jelly Leaves Residue
Mountain Falls Healing Ointment is 41% petroleum jelly, or petrolatum, so it will remind the older among us of our days growing up having Vaseline rubbed all over us by concerned mothers.Petrolatum is FDA an approved over-the-counter (OTC) skin protectant, which, while many of its "healing" properties have since been re-examined, does work well on chapped skin and lips. Of course, the problem is that it is a petroleum product, which will render it anathema to some.I haven't used it for years myself but ordered this because of dry/cracked skin, though it has many other uses, including unsticking zippers, so if you don't want it on your body you can always find other uses for it.This product is identical to Aquaphor, which is also 41% petrolatum (Vaseline is 100%) and to be honest, isn't much more expensive. It is helpful, it does not entirely absorb into the skin (at least not anytime soon). I would not apply this and then open up a paper bound book and turn the page. That said, it is a helpful product to have around, even if you're past the kids with diaper rash stage. Us older folks have problems too. I have psoriasis and though this will seal in moisture as desired, I think I would prefer Eucerin cream simply because of its lack of residue. Four stars.

Mountain Falls Healing Ointment Skin Protectant for Dry and Cracked Skin
Mountain Falls Healing Ointment Skin Protectant is very similar to Aquaphor. It's ultra soothing for cracked dry hands, lips, elbows, , cracked heels and anywhere your skin needs some moisture and heeling. No perfumes or scents to this, you're getting just what's needed to get skin back to health. This came in so handy last winter. when I had a terrible cold and a very sore nose. It worked wonders and solved the problem very quickly, just after a few soothing applications.I find it very versatile and very useful to have in the house. I never know when I'm going to need it. There's always an area with me that needs it!

Petroleum based ointment
If you're a fan of using petroleum based products like aquaphor or vaseline, this will work for you. I'm not a fan of using the byproduct of oil production (this thick goo is made from the stuff that forms on oil wells!) on my skin and instead use organic shea butter. I know many people, like me, don't realize what's in these type of products unless we see the ingredient list. But the good news is, it works great for removing scuffs from shoes, and also works in the craft room! I use is as a resist, and also in a homemade embossing gel!

Good product
This product is recommended for dry, cracked, irritated skin, and for diaper rash. I used it on dry skin on my hands and elbows. After applying it, I felt a burning sensation for a very brief moment, but then it subsided. The cream iis less of a liquid and more of an ointment than other products I have tried. It did soothe my skin quite a bit, and I will continue to use it. The price is definitely very reasonable. Seems to be a good product, and great for the price.
