The Game of Mah Jong (Illustrated)

This book is a great help to use while playing mahjong, quite invaluable!

This is my favorite book to use when teaching mah jong to friends. I use it as my primary resource for the version of mah jong that I learned. The writing is straight forward and easy for the novice to understand. It has suggestions for simplifying the game to teach to children. The pictures of the vaious hands are a great help. Thompson & Maloney's other two books are also wonderful to have. Beware, mah jong can be become an "addiction", or as I prefer, passion!

So you want to learn how to play mahjong? This book explains step-by-step how to play so you can play without having to rely on someone else teaching you. Has an index of special hands in the back too. Our small group has been playing mahjong for several years now and this is the one book we always refer back to! The only book you will probably ever need to start and keep playing mahjong.

Very helpful

I bought this book as a refresher. My cousins and I used to play mahjong as kids and when I grew up I bought my own mahjong set. One of these days I will be able to pick up this book and remember how to play and can teach others how to play this wonderful game.

Good quality, arrived in a timely manner

The book was as described, slightly used. It has clear illustrations for a beginner MaHJong player.

I bought this book for my 98 year old mother who is desperately trying to learn to play Mah Jong so she can join in with her friends. It helped her a lot and now she's happily playing the game and referring to the book for help when necessary.

Recently started to play this fascinating game and given 'crib sheet' for sets to be collected; however I do appreciate seeing things in colour and this book gives lots of illustrations about the tiles, and sets to be saved in the game.

Practical, useful guide which I use each time I play as am relative beginner. Am addicted to the game!

I have already recommended this book to several people. It gives you the background to the game,and explains the tiles and theirpecking order in straight forward terms. It gives you lots of advice and the illustrations are uncomplicated.

This is an excellent book which explains the rules and how to playvery clearly. It is essential that all the players are followingthe same procedures as there are some variations both in the UKand worldwide. Recommended.

Excellent introduction in good English to the game of Mahjong

It wasn't the book I ordered! I ordered the book with the picture of a dragon on it which I know has many more games. The reason for the low score is because I feel I was misled.

Poor quality printing. All on black and white.

Easy to understand instruction book for quite a complex game. The tables of special hands at the back are particularly useful. It's always beside me for reference when playing.

Great book to try and learn this very old Chinese Game. love it!
