Moultrie Feeders 30 gal Classic Hunter Feeder

Not hard to put together but the instructions leave a lot to be desired. That said, after I got it together it was easy to set up and load with feed. I have had it out about a month and it works perfectly. The deer started feeding around it the first night out and they come every day. I was impressed enough to order another one that is due in any day. I would recommend this feeder as one that is a great value and works as advertised.

Feeders worked without any problems, the only thing that I didn't like were the legs, they are not strong enough for the weight of the feed in them. Had square tubing put in their place.

This is my third game feeder and you can't beat the poly-barrel for lasting. A simple "up-grade" of replacing the plastic spinner plate and funnel with an after-market add-on kit (Moultrie metal spinner plate and funnel offered at Amazon) and you have the high end model ( timer is same as used in top models, just lacks a feed poundage/days of feeding feature and solar charger hook up). Fixed the solar "problem" by purchasing the solar panel which comes with an additional plug in lead with alligator clips. Just needed to drill a 1/2" hole on plastic motor housing(if you look close, there is already an outline, panel plug seals this on plug-in), attach clips to correct terminals and you're set (plenty of room inside weatherproof housing). Others have complained about the legs coming apart during set-up. this can be fixed with a simple wrap of good electric tape at each joint. My oldest model was a "top end" Moultrie and they started with the "slip" design. I applied the tape and it's been in and out of the woods for 4 years without problems and the tape keeps rain out of the legs too.

Prompt shipping! Only 3 stars because parts were missing. Screws and parts were loose in the box. Most of the screws and nuts around the perimeter, one of the main screws to hold the base and the thick plastic washer were missing. Live in a rural area, took an hour to drive into town, get parts and return. Could not match the thick plastic washer exactly. Unit works ok.

Be careful of size of pellets. If mixtures of small or large pellets, they tend to clog the funnel. Have to check daily because sometimes no food is dispensed.

I own an older Moultrie feeder and it had a metal distributer for the grain, the new one has a plastic one. I can not see the plastic one lasting very long!

So far I have not had any problems they have made it through a couple of good rains, a snow, and an ice storm with no problems. I like the easy programming. I have two now I might order a third before next season to put on the other end of my property

Really serves its purpose but hard to refill. If it falls it will break due to thin plastic. Not ideal for short people. But it works great.
