I have worn these on multiple international trips and they have worked equally well on city streets and hikes. Very comfortable with good support and strength.

I have owned Merrell MOAB shoes for the past 10 years (3 different pairs), and will continue to buy them for as long as they make them without changes. They wear extremely well, have excellent support and comfort, and fit my foot superbly. This review is for the Gortex version of the shoe. I also ordered and tried at the same time the "Waterproof" version of the shoe and it fit too snugly and was heavier than this Gortex shoe. I sent the Waterproof one back, and kept this one that I now wear every day. Wonderful shoe! Try a pair and treat yourself to real comfort. These are not waterproof in the sense that you can go through standing water, but will keep your feet dry through damp conditions. Also stays pretty comfortable in hot weather.

I wanted to have a hiking/touring shoe for travel that was waterproof. Having been in downpours in New York, Budapest and Madrid, I thought it was time to get footwear that kept my feet dry. I originally ordered a Merrell Men's Moab Edge 2 Waterproof Sneaker, a similar product, but learned that these employed Merrel's own (not Gortex) waterproofing system, which apparently is experiencing some water defects, in part due to deficiencies in a new plant in China. The Merrell Men's Moab 2 GTX Hiking Shoe uses the tried-and-true Gortex system, and the shoe is fabricated in an established Chinese plant. These shoes seem to have far fewer issues then the Moab Edge. While I have not yet tested them in a hard rain (hence the 4 stars for now) they fit beautifully. Since I also use touring shoes in the gym while travelling, these performed great on the elliptical - no discomfort. In other words, these shoes seem to be just what I need, but their waterproof performance has yet to be tested.

I got these shoes at 50% off. They look great but the price was the selling point. They are definitely for trails and hiking. If you walk a-lot on pavement or everyday these are not for that. I walked 5 miles on pavement breaking them in. Only 1 hotspot so still good but I replaced the inner soles with Dr. Scholls. These are alot of leather which I like but have to break in. I hiked 4 miles on a trail of dirt and grass and no issues. I would give them a 7/10 on waterproof. The gortex is good but need to test more and check the toe area. Overall a great pair of shoes! :)

I had a pair of the high tops in this model and they were really comfortable and when my gym shoes broke down on me, I thought these would be a good alternative. I love them, plenty of support and lots of traction

Purchased for my dad. They offer great stability, look good, are slip resistant, have great support, and are a good value for the money. My dad has high arches and really bad achilles tendons and these are the best shoes/hikers he has found that allow him to stay busy around the house that support his arches and help minimize his achilles pain. He uses them every day either working around the house doing a number of chores. My dad is always doing something and he always has these on.

15 to 20 years ago, I use to have trouble with pain on the bottom of my right foot when I would walk far. The athletic shoes I was wearing at the time all had a three section almost "articulated" construction design on the bottom of the shoe. I found my first pair of Merrill's on sale and bought them because they were "on sale". Shortly after I started wearing them I noticed my foot no longer hurt me. This caused me to examine the shoe to determine why it was different. That is when I noticed the Merrill didn't have the "three" section tread design. Now 20 year and probably 20 pairs of Merrill's later they are the only brand of shoes I'll buy. No more pain! Amazon has better prices than the Merrill outlet store! I go to the store to find what I like and try the shoe on and then come home and order the same shoe from Amazon and save $20! Plus free returns if needed! Do your feet a favor if you have never worn a pair of Merrill's give them a try...I think you will like them! (Another thing I love about them is the little "pull-on" finger ring on the back of all Merrill's is actually big enough to fit your finger in!)

He sido usuario de Merrell desde hace unos 10 años, y la verdad es que seguiría teniendo los mismos dos pares de botas que compré desde entonces, si no fuera porque me robaron un par y el otro me dejó de quedar. Entonces me vi en la necesidad de comprar un nuevo par, esta vez unas MOAB 2 GTX, y me encantaron. Se siente la calidad de la hechura y los materiales, así como la durabilidad que me consta que es propia de la marca. Ofrecen excelente agarre en todo tipo de superficies (sólo no las he probado en hielo o nieve), mucha estabilidad (aún con carga), buen soporte de tobillo y arco, son muy impermeables, no tienen puntos incómodos, no requieren mucho tiempo para hormarlas, las agujetas mantienen bien la tensión y no se deshacen, en fin, son excelentes, y por $1300 que pague eso es brutal. Lo único es que el goretex no es tan transpirable como la membrana M select dry propia de la marca, pero tampoco es como si tuvieras el pie en una bolsa de plástico. Me sacó de onda que dice que es de piel de poliuretano, pero más que cuero parece una especie de plástico de buena calidad. En fin, el nombre MOAB es acrónimo de mother of all boots, y no sé si sean las mejores, pero ciertamente alcanzan la excelencia.

Great build but way too narrow. I ordered a 1/2 size up and still too small. Really disappointed.

Estas merrell moab2 gtx son perfectas. Comodísimas duras, impermeables... El tercer par que he comprado y como siempre un acierto. Eso sí, ojo al tallaje que en este calzado de montaña debe ser un pelín más grande que el habitual. Media talla al menos

Seit vielen Jahren trage ich gerne Trekking/Outdoorschuhe im Alltag. In der Arbeit, beim Wandern, Einkaufen, Autofahren,... in ca. 15 Jahren habe ich schon diverse Marken durch (Columbia, Raichle, Lowa, Grisport,...). Ich kaufe meine Schuhe nicht nach Marke, sondern nach Ausstattung (z.B. Gore-Tex Membran, Vibram Sohle,...), Preis (<100,-) und anderen Kriterien wie z.B. Passform. Dies ist mein zweiter Schuh von Merrell und ich bin mit der Passform sehr zufrieden, was ich bei diversen Chinakrachern (die ich auch mal ausprobiert habe) z.B. nicht war. Ich habe wie angegeben die Schuhe vor dem ersten Tragen imprägniert, und habe sie seit mehreren Wochen im "Einsatz". Ich kann definitiv nicht über Langzeiterfahrungen schreiben (diese kommen später, sofern ich es nicht vergesse). Bisher muss ich aber sagen, dass sie sich im Wintereinsatz bewährt haben. Ich bin mit den Schuhen sogar mal auf einem vereisten Waldweg eingebrochen, und war kurz bis zu den Knöcheln im Wasser gestanden... aber die Füße blieben trocken. Trotz Blitzeis und vereisten Straßen bin ich bisher auch noch nie ausgerutscht... man merkt natürlich schon, dass der Grip fehlt, aber wie gesagt, bis jetzt hat es immer gereicht. Meine Bergschuhe mit Vibramsohle von Hanwag und auch meine alten Trekkingschuhe von Columbia, die auch sehr gut waren, haben unter solchen Voraussetzungen aber auch keinen guten Grip mehr, deswegen würde ich das mit dem fehlenden Grip auf Eisflächen einfach mal unter Physik und "ist halt so, und kann man nicht ändern" abspeichern. Das einzige was mir persönlich nicht so gefällt sind die Schlaufen, in denen die Schnürsenkel geführt werden… da gefallen mir persönlich Nieten besser, weil diese beim Schnüren weniger Widerstand haben, und ich mir bei den Schlaufen auch ein wenig Sorgen mache, wann diese Ausreißen… ich bin halt jemand, der die Schuhe trägt, bis sie auseinanderfallen oder die Sohle durchgelaufen ist (d.h. bis Löcher im Schuh oder in der Sohle sind). Abschließend kann ich (bis jetzt) sagen, dass ich mir den Schuh definitiv wieder kaufen würde. Wie haltbar er ist, muss sich aber noch rausstellen (mein alter Merrell war aber wirklich haltbar, sodass ich mir da keine allzu großen Sorgen mache). Am Ende noch die kurze Anmerkung: Obwohl ich sonst meist Größe 44 trage, habe ich den Merrell Moab 2 in Größe 45 gekauft, weil man bei Merrell grundsätzlich eine Nummer größer kaufen sollte damit er passt. Langzeiterfahrung: Nach nunmehr gut 2 Jahren des täglichen Tragens kann ich auch etwas zur Langlebigkeit sagen. Ich habe die Schuhe praktisch jeden Tag (Sommer wie Winter) an. Für Hundespaziergänge, Wandern, Einkaufen, Autofahren,... Die Sohle ist noch nicht durchgelaufen, aber man sieht schon deutliche Abnutzungserscheinungen (darf bei der intensiven Nutzung aber auch sein. Die Ummantelung der Schnürsenkel ist schon länger durchgescheuert, und löst sich. Aber der innere Teil hält, und die Funktion ist damit immer noch da. Die Laschen für die Schnürsenkel (da hatte ich ja etwas Bedenken bezüglich der Langlebigkeit) halten wunderbar (ohne dass ich großartig Rücksicht genommen hätte beim schnüren). Der Schuh ist auch immer noch wunderbar dicht, und matschige Wiesen und Pfützen sind kein Problem. Der Socken bleibt trocken! Und das obwohl ich den Schuh (soweit ich mich erinnere) nur einmal am Anfang imprägniert habe. Ansonsten wurde er auch nicht gepflegt. Ich habe mir deswegen vor ein paar Tagen noch ein Paar bestellt (derzeit nicht lieferbar, aber ich hoffe dass das trotzdem was wird... der Preis ist nochmal deutlich günstiger als damals, und auch den damaligen Preis von 90 Euro war er definitiv wert).
