Can you taste any difference in the "Bourbon" vanilla over the regular alcohol ones like McCormick etc?

If you get Real Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract, it is over the top good. The problem is Amazon is using 3rd party sellers. Our bottle was not the usual dark brown. It tasted like it had been cut with a bottle of rubbing alcohol. This is a perishable item, so unless you can fight it out with your credit card company, it’s non-returnable and you’re out over a $100 for stuff that is questionable if it’s even safe to pour down your drain.

Why is there added sugar?

Does it have alcohol? Boy does it have alcohol! Don’t buy from 3rd party. Read under the price tag if it’s 3rd party. There's no bourbon in it. Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans does not have anything to do with Bourbon whiskey, it derives its name from the old name for Madagascar - the Bourbon Islands.
