Does what it says it does
I gotta preface this by saying I made a mistake. I assumed this was an active adapter, as I didn't realize they made "inactive" ones. I also didnt realize this was limited to 1080P. So that was an issue for me, as I meant to use this with a Huion Camvas 16 Pro, which has a 1440P screen but only takes HDMI. Needless to say, this didnt work with my tablet. Hopefully this can help someone else looking for a similar device to use with their tablet - look for an active adapter that can handle 1440P or 4K!However, for me not all was lost, as I was using my single HDMI port from my graphics card to output to a home theater receiver that I use for my speakers. So I plugged the Huion to the HDMI on my graphics card and used this DP to HDMI adapter to connect to the receiver via HDMI, and it worked! I was kinda surprised, as I didnt expect DP to also output audio, but it does. Worked perfectly!Aside from that, the adapter feels well made and sturdy. Seems pretty quality.

Great addition to my laptop bag
I purchased this device to use with my Dell Latitude E6520. I travel overseas a great amount of time, and like to watch television from back home when I am in a country where English is not the primary language. I have a Slingbox back home, and have been able to watch TV on my laptop for the past few years. As time has gone on, more and more hotels are adding flat screen televsions with HDMI ports. I bought this inexpensive little adaptor, along with an inexpensive HDMI cable and am now able to plug my laptop into the hotel televisions. On my last trip to Germany and Russia, this device worked flawlessly in both hotels that I stayed at. There was no setup, no adjustments. Just plug this cable into my laptop, plug the HDMI cable into the adaptor and the other end into the TV and I was good to go. Sound and video from the computer came through to the television. One hint in some hotels......the Hilton that I stayed in locked the inputs on the television so only the first HDMI port could be used, and they had their system plugged into that port. I simply unplugged their cable and plugged mine in. On the other TV I used, I had to choose the second HDMI port from the television remote control. And if you do use this in a hotel, be kind and switch the system back the way you found it, and plug any cables you might have unplugged to make this work.....not everyone is a technically savvy as us. They may turn the TV on the next day after you check out, the TV won't work and they will have to call the front desk to fix it.

Awesome value! Best on the market at this time.
I looked around a lot before purchasing this item and selected it for two main reasons:1. The previous reviews that I read, and2. The great price and valueI completely agree with one of the previous reviewers that having the short length of flexible cable between the two ends of the adapter makes this a far more safer, reliable, and convenient product. The other designs have a long, rigid dongle that is far more likely to exert serious strain on the computer's DP connector and eventually damage it. I tested this with my new Fujitsu Lifebook T901 PC and a 47-inch Mitsubishi LCD TV - and it worked the first time - video and audio! The T901 itself actually has an HDMI port and does not need this adapter, but the port replicator/docking station that Fujitsu sells for this laptop has a DP port instead of HDMI - that's what I used in this test. I was worried about getting audio - not all DP ports or adapters support audio transmission - but in this case both did. The only thing I am worried about now is that I have seen some reviews (of OTHER PRODUCTS - not this one) that say that the "latching" feature of the DP connector breaks after a while, especially if you plug/unplug frequently. Personally, I think the latching is unnecessary and actually a pain in the a$$. I'd very much like to see this adapter made without the latches. But I am just guessing that it is part of the DP spec because I have not seen a single DP adapter or cable out there without this. Hope that changes.Bottom line - great product and great value so far!
