Mast Cells United: A Holistic Approach to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

Ok, I was weary of ordering the book (based on one negative Amazon Review) but I am so far really impressed and feeling this is an invaluable source of information that was otherwise scattered between research papers, expert conferences, and books. The info is out there in other sources sure, but here it is all organized, detailed and so I can understand it and USE it. I also have Dr Afrins book, and it is important, but find I like how this one is written to empower patients with a holistic approach viewpoint.I was clinically diagnosed with MCAS but did not feel good about not having concrete tests to solidify that diagnosis (even though I took MANY tests), so I wanted to learn more about this syndrome before accepting it myself. I'm only 1/5 through the book & have read further as well as I skim other sections of interest before I get there. It feels like I am peeking into a window of a lifelong struggle I always knew was there, but never connected the dots. I realize with this syndrome it's easy to have any soup of issues and just say ok, I must have MCAS... but what's great here is the info I can use to help my doctors seek out testing that may be more relevant to MY unique case. There are many things I would not have thought to tell my doctor without having read how it could be relevant.Anyways. I'll update if my opinion changes about this book, but for now, from a stranger, and NOT a paid or encouraged review, I say THANK YOU Amber Walker.

Loved all the information she presents and love the holistic info.

This book really presented me with so much information! Having a loved one who has Mast Cell Activation Syndrome I needed to learn and better understand it. And this book gave me the resources and info I need to help. I'm amazed at the level of research and study the Ms. Walker put into the book! Particularly helpful was the 'anecdotal' information, personal and patient insights and the 'end of chapter' summaries on key concepts! There are so few resources on the syndrome and Ms. Walker has done such a great service putting so much info into one source book that should be read by patients, family, friends and medical professionals!! The book also highlights some hopeful and encouraging aspects as well! Thank you for all you have done in helping educate!

This book too large & heavy to hold- it was double spaced printed, making for twice as many pages. With all that empty space, they could have enlarged the & darkened the font to at least make it legible for the many with mast cell issues suffering eye/vision problems. Font is miniscule & nearly invisible on pages, even with a magnifier. Complete waste of money.

I was diagnosed with MCAS three months before this book came out. I do wish it had been available at the time of my diagnosis. I was very overwhelmed with having to research so much information on my own. Walker’s book brings it all together and helps patients navigate a very complicated syndrome. I have recommended this book to others who have or suspect they might have MCAS, and will continue to do so. As an RN educator, I truly appreciate Walker’s work.

I’m a little over half way. I read the book by Afrin as well as the other book available on this disease. While this book is a little more technical than I wanted, I am very thankful that the author took the time to write it. It’s a crazy disease that is different for every person. Can’t wait to finish it to see what may help me along my journey.

This is the most informative, and thorough book currently available on MCAS. Amber offers hope with healing through treating root causes with naturopathic options. Highly recommend!

As others have said here..this is a great book if you can get past the first chapter: it’s a bit full on and the used of the phrase triggering anaphylaxis is a bit scary. I feel the term is used very easily and the definitions of anaphylaxis that I have is very severe and life threatening. When the term anaphylaxis is used I think is actually a severe allergy attack is the medical term. The true anaphylaxis scenario requires an epipen and the patient would be unconscious. I have anaphylaxis level severe food allergies and also mcas so that use of the term anaphylaxis trigger is worrying.The rest of the book is great and very informative but please do follow medical guidelines and guidance this is a good starting point for gathering knowledge.

What a revelation for me .This has helped me and my son so much .Now i know what has made my life hell for the last fifty years .Thank you.

Sie macht Mut, sich den Widrigkeiten zu stellen und nach Auswegen zu suchen, dabei verbreitet sie so viel Zuversicht, dass man selber an einen Erfolg glaubt.Nach der Diagnose Histamin -Intoleranz, null Hilfe durch meine Hausärztin, sei keine Krankheit, daher auch nicht als solche anerkannt. Die Antwort auf meinen Einwand, ich hätte gerade zwei Notaufnahmen und einen Krankenhausaufenthalt hinter mir- Achselzucken. Da mit waren weitere Untersuchungen abgeblockt.Bei mir Tränen und pure Verzweiflung.Internet, Amazon, meine Sprachkenntnisse und "Mast Cells United" waren ein Segen für mich.Ich habe den umfangreichen Informationen nicht nur eine Erklärung für meine vielen Beschwerden entnommen, habe die Angst vor dem Unbekannten verloren, sondern auch Therapiemöglichkeiten gefunden.Ich kann das Buch bestens empfehlen, dazu noch L.B. Afrin "Never Bet Against Occam".Dear Ms Walker I am so thankful to you. Now I am on the road to recovery.
