desertcart.com: Fortune Reigns: Ancient Rome Military Fiction (Clay Warrior Stories Book 6) eBook : Slater, J. Clifton, Jones, Hollis: Books Review: Slater slays it again! - I have to admit: I'm addicted to the Clay Warriors Series. The Punic Wars have always fascinated me and J. Clifton Slater's series adds the human touch to history as it transports me back to the days of the Roman Republic...before Rome became an empire. It may be fictionalized, but he's taken great pains to include actual events, people and battles. But his characters and narration make the history real for the reader. A sticker for detail and readability, he puts you right in the action through Alero's almost non-stop contributions to the various campaigns, a believable choreography that brings the scenes alive. Needless to say, I loved this book and highly recommend the entire series. Read it. You won't be disappointed. Review: Battle for Messina - Our hero is caught up in the tribulations of political favouritism, incapable command staff, capable command staff being ignored, and major battles. Another good book in the series and looking forward to more of them. Read it on Kindle Unlimited.

# Roman fight
What a battle! I hope to read every book in this series, but so far this may be my favorite. The author has the ability to describe the battles in a way that you completely understand and can visualize. The action doesn’t let up, yet the character development is still there. This book goes full tilt, make sure you have plenty of time available when you start it bc you won’t want to put it down.

The best of the serious so far. Writer and story have matured.
Both writer and story/character have matured. This book was the smoothest read in the series so far. Highly recommend the series for easy entertainment.

Great book
Once again Death Caller (Clay Warrior’s new name), adds new souls to the goddess of Death. The descriptions of the characters and locations make it possible for the reader to see in their mind what is going on just like a movie.

Early Roman.
As always, I enjoy reading the clay warrior series. You can't put it down till you finish. Easy read and well written. You feel you are right there.

Time of the Roman Republic
Not a bad read. On a per with the previous books in the series. Can't wait for the next book, number 7.

Romantic escapism .
Reminiscent of adolescent escapism complete with trappings of enforced order and military authority to give structure to a wishful heroic fantasy.

Story 6 was another great adventure packed book. The main character has grown with each story and in this one has added more bulk to his character. Great story!

Reads like actual history and not fiction as the events and action are so expertly portrayed. The hero of the series is charismatic, likeable, savage and unforgettable. The finest fictional series on the Roman legions I have ever read.

I love this series. Following Alerio on his journey through the wars of the pre Roman history we normally hear of. I like ‘watching him’ grow in to his manhood, and his place within the legion - in my minds eye. I was slightly disappointed, by what felt like a very rushed ending to this book though, but I thoroughly enjoyed the read all the way through. (Even if I can’t sing, or say the poetry very well!) I greatly enjoy it. Looking forward to the next in the series.
