This book apparently was designed for experts to use to evaluate preschoolers' classroom. The rating scale not well-designed, as novice teachers would have to flip pages and double-check everything before being able to take advantage of the rating system. Each category was merely listed in the system, which forces us to turn the pages back to the category's chapter instead of focusing on the process invovled with evaluating one's classroom.

I was forced, by a professor, to purchase this book for class. We had to observe a teacher in a local school and complete the report. While conducting our observations the teacher informed us that ECERS-R is no longer used. So basically we were learning how to do an out of date procedure.No problem(s) with the book, just displeased that I had to purchase something that is no longer being used by our school district.

Anyone working in early years should use this book like a guide to have a properly environment for children to learn in the most useful way.A training would be necessary.

I use this book for my setting and find it very useful. It provides me with guidelines to look at my weakness and also opportunities to improve.

Its good for those of you who like to self evaluate your practice. Its a useful tool. I recommend it .
