love the levels
On my path to recovery from several herniated discs, I have usedSTOTT PILATES: Back Care Repertoire, which has three levels. Now that I have this new set, I can see how those were laying the foundation for these exercises. I enjoy having the variety of workouts and can choose which level of difficulty my back feels ready for on a given day. I appreciate Moira's comments along the way. She often reminds the viewer to relax the shoulders or neck while working the abs and I realize that that's just what I need to do. I also like how on these DVD's, the Basic Principles are on a separate menu, so one does not need to hear the basic lesson with every workout.

Level of difficulty
I have been doing pilates twice weekly in a class situation for two years. I thought I would like some DVD s for extra sessions at home, so bought this set. The sessions are good but I should have chosen something with a greater level of difficulty. I do not believe that you can see when you buy them the difficulty level ( until they arrive at your door). It would be useful to have the difficulty level clearly displayed online. However, the sessions are good, lovely stretches and well paced.

VERY beginner
It's short on actual exercise and long on explanation. I appreciated learning at first, but then the actual movements are few once I skip through the DVD workouts. I actually have to try to squeeze all three DVDs in one workout to really compare to a class.

Nice DVD workouts
I'm an experienced Pilates student and like the Stott style. Recently I got very ill. I lost so much muscle and weight, it's been a tough recovery. I started back to Pilates with these DVD's figuring they would be gentle. The first difference I noticed was feeling less blue. This helped motivate me to do more in life and with Pilates. I'll be graduating to the Fitness Circle workouts soon. These DVD's have been a great beginning.Clear instruction, each DVD completely different than the other.

Not for exercise enthusiasts
If you have ever done p90x or insanity, this workout is NOT for you. It is a beginner level at best. Not at all challenging. Very disappointed!

Geared towards Instructors
I don't know if I didn't read the description well enough but this is not for beginners at all. The actual pilates section was super fast. I was hoping for something I could do between my pilates lessons but when I told my instructor about this she actually mentioned that it's geared more towards instructors than clients. Then when I watched the DVD she was 100% correct. Maybe it's just cause I'm at a remedial level but this is just my impression.

Got what I hoped for...
I'm new to pilates and was looking for a simple, easy to follow, introduction. That's exactly what these videos are. The only negative is they're so beginner that I'm surpassing them after just 6 weeks...but progress is good!

Less than expected
These are definitely basic videos, and shorter than I expected, There is a great deal of overlap in the 3 videos.

Amazing!
Stott pilates was recommended to me by my physiotherapist as she realised my body was out of line. So I signed upfor a block of six classes and after the first one I thought this isn't going to do anything for me as the moves were veryslight and didn't need much effort. After the second class I could already feel the changes with my body - for one - forthe first time both my feet were flat on the ground, I was told by another physio that I had the highest instep they hadever seen so this was a first for me. I have tried lots of different types of exercises including ordinary pilates but havenever experienced such results, I'm definitely much stronger. Moira Merrithew is a genius and has definitely saved mefrom major ill health. The one thing I will say is Stott Pilates can not be picked up correctly from just looking at any DVDs you will have to goto some classes first as the moves are very precise and the breathing is just as important as the movements. Theseclasses are expensive but worth every penny/cent in fact I would pay double the price. You don't even have to be fitto do these exercises it's not about fitness it's about building core strength and fixing bad posture. A must for everyone.
