great book
this book is so informative and really shows so much info about the effects of porn on the young and adult brain.it also exposes a lot of the healthcare industry and how they always write off everything as physical and rather prescribe you meds then tell you to make healthy life choices such as stopping porn.so many young men have experienced issues and this book opens your eyes and gives solutions to fixing issues that are not due to physical. This book is also a great read to let you know you aren't alone in this situation. definitely pick it up.

Fascinating Read
The science alone is incredibly interesting, let alone the incredibly consistent anecdotal evidence detailed throughout the book. Would definitely recommend.

A very informative read
This is my own personal opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.Pros:This book highlights the dangers of porn use, why it is a problem. It also points you in the right direction of NoFap and other positive communities. This book has easy steps to change a porn viewers life for the better.Cons:(This may come off nitpicky)This book is a lengthy read, I tried to speed read it to an extent and fail, only coming back to it months later. I also had trouble in relating to some of the men's stories in the book, and porn induced ED.Bottom Line: This is definitely an essential "survival guide" if you are curious if your porn viewing or porn addiction is a problem. Pick it up.

Great book!
Well-written and straight to the point about the science of pornography and why it's harmful. He uses tons of citations and anecdotes from real people, which can be a little much at times, but other than that, it's great.

amazingly informative. a must read.
This book opened my eyes to the dangers that porn poses to the brain. With just this one resource in your library, you will easily be able to see through the smoke as to how pernicious porn is, and the user self reports will allow the reader to really examine for themselves whether it’s so called benefits outweigh the damage it does in all areas of one’s life. Rest in peace Mr. Wilson, and thank you.

A little repetitive but very important apolitical message.
Love that he avoids makes the argument based on science and doesn’t use religious or political authority, as people wouldn’t listen to it. Helps me when debating to use something that isn’t rooted in credential or authority that people don’t respect or listen to. Examples being atheist not wanting to listen to religious reason and morality (and vice versa), liberals not wanting to listen to conservatives (vice versa), straight not wanting to listen to gay (vice versa), etc. This book is purely talking about an issue from a place in the middle and trying to bring it to attention without using any base of morality other than data and statistics to show something than anyone can agree is a massive problem for us and for our future generations.

Finally, here are the pieces to the porn addiction puzzle, explained!
Gary has been instrumental in my understanding of what porn is doing to both old and young men and women in today's world. This book shows quite convincingly how porn use contributes or causes erectile dysfunction in men, and sexual problems in women.Chapter 1 is very important reading. It provides the foundation and proof of this problem. Although the problem is widely perceived by men who are suffering from it, it has gotten almost no recognition in the world of clinicians, researchers and therapists. That should change with this landmark book.Chapter 2 shows the mechanism for porn problems in the brain. Gary's contributions include putting the pieces together that are out there, in a convincing and compelling explanation on how hormones, the brain's reward circuitry and the porn all work together to pull a man into erectile dysfunction just as today's sugary junk foods pull men and women into obesity.Chapter 3 shows the solution. Gary runs a pioneering website dedicated to helping men who suffer porn problems and so this chapter is not academic but based upon thousands of men who have been getting help on line. The book's major advantages are that it has solid proof behind it. And today's scientific and therapeutic community need that proof. The world is overly saturated in sexual triggers that cause constant sexual stimulation to become the norm. This is the desensitization that has been so harmful not just to men, but to women as well. And now finally it's clearly explained. This isn't a moral or ethical issue. It's a scientific one. But for men suffering erectile dysfunction, it's a huge part of their life. And it is hurting not just them but their spouses and girlfriends, and affecting relationships and the perceptions between the man and woman in the relationship. How harmful is it? Terribly harmful, probably one of the most significant problems we have today.Thank you Gary for clearly laying out in a scholarly yet accessible book the facts about porn, porn addiction, and erectile dysfunction.

The Bible of Porn Addiction
I have been exploring the porn addiction literature and this book has some unique insights and is definitely a must read. Understanding the addition gives you the power to outsmart it.One of the most valuable ideas in this book is that religious approaches are not very effective at stopping the addition. This has nothing to do with religion; I am a pretty religious person myself. It has everything to do with the brain. Wilson explains that when an activity is condemned, engaging in it creates more anxiety, which leads to even more dopamine in the brain. In other words, approaching porn addiction from a religious point of view makes porn *more* exciting:"Interestingly, people (including religious ones) on the forums we monitor often make rapid progress in rebooting after they re-frame their porn challenge in biological terms:I no longer see my addiction as the influence of demons or the natural expression of my wicked sinful heart, but as a very human, very natural (albeit misplaced) desire for sexual intimacy. It was a bad habit, reinforced by neurochemicals, but nothing mysterious or ethereal. I realized that I already had the power to control my actions."As great as other books on the subject are, this book discusses some pitfalls and techniques I have not seen anywhere else. For example, it gives you a practical way of dealing with recall of porn scenes - you visualize a big red X over the scene together with the sound of sirens. You can't stop thoughts from popping up, but they are highly malleable. As far as other books on this subject are concerned, I would also recommend "The Porn Myth," which is a philosopher's take, and "The Porn Trap," which is a therapist's take. "The Porn Myth" really questions how we think about porn, while "The Porn Trap" presents the sheer misery porn causes to people and couples.Let me close with a quote from "Your Brain On Porn":"The fact is, the brain's reward centre doesn't know what porn is. It only registers levels of stimulations through dopamine and opioid spikes."

What an eye opener!!!
This book is an eye opener!!! Along with Wendy Maltz’s “The Porn Trap”, you will find everything that is wrong with the porn and of course people like us. I really wished I have ready this book like 10-12 years ago. I cried a lot after reading this book. I literally completed this book in a day. It’s like all the burden has been lifted off from my shoulders. It’s like my rebirth. It’s like the mind and soul got rediscovered. I still weep for all the time and energy I have wasted. Please read this book before it’s too late. And of course lot of thanks to Gary Wilson !!!
