The 'thicker' metal foil when you need it.
This is the thicker aluminum tape you imagined but was hard to find. - Layering it over itself as a ply starts to get structural. Nice. - Takes kindly to being 'screeded' on a hard flat plane with a straight smooth bar to get it smooth and neat. - Had to seal a long plenum's 90 degree fold where it met the wood stove to seal the air leaks. Pulled a two foot length and flattened it smooth, then folded it over the sharp edge of the table giving me angle iron shape. When I carefully pulled off the paper backing. I had an angled 'bar' that I could lay into place and press down neatly. It could be a little more adhesive. So a light coat of high heat silicone RTV and thinner locked it down nicely. - I have used it to build up cracked plastic shop-vac nozzles till they were like made of metal instead of plastic. Not pretty but they have been sucking at my workshop floors for years. - Peeling the backing is simple. Just lightly dog-ear a corner towards the foil side and the paper will separate allowing you to start a peel-off. Good stuff.

Perfect for structural aluminum building
I actually use this tape to assemble live/work cabins out of 12 gauge aluminum panels. It is extremely thick (twice the metal of any other tape on the market) and creates strong, watertight seals. Contrary to what other reviews have stated, it is not at all sharp and you won't get cut using it. It peels off without leaving a residue and the glue is high-quality; you can reseat the tape if needed.

I love things that work. Thank You
This stuff is great and a very good price. I tried the DEI High temp and it does not have the stick. Also very thin. The Foil is thick and very sticking. It molds to whatever you put it on. I used it on my 97 Astro Evapoator Core Case. It is made out of plastic that falls apart over time. The foil work perfect. You get better at it the more you use it. Dont take all the backing off at one time .Get the start stuck and slide the backing off as you adhere the tape. I love things that work. Thank You

Thick, thick, thick heavy duty-ness
Much thicker than any aluminum tape we've ever seen at a local hardware store, this can actually prove to be too thick for some applications. Where you want that sturdier thickness, however, this is it. That extra thickness does also seem to make it more apparent that the adhesive doesn't necessarily want to set right away: it can initially seem like it isn't sticky enough. But, we've found that, if we position it and press it in place for a bit (minutes), then leave it undisturbed for a while longer (hours or overnight or days), the adhesive does usually set up and deliver a strong hold. The thickness does give it the leverage to pry it up, where the thinner stuff would tear before coming up, but that seems to be the natural result of the substantial extra thickness.

Repair of screen door
Used to reinforce sliding door screen to frame. Tape is heavy and adhesive strong. Placed on inside and outside. Cut to contour a shape desired

Thicker than normal.
Perfect for my application. I needed a thicker than normal aluminum tape.

Great care is a must to achieve adhesion.
Foil faced Rockwool used to insulate a smoker made of steal. This tape failed to adhere to the new, clean foil.

I bought this aluminum tape to repair the muffler on my van. There were several places on the outside shell of the muffler that had rusted through and it was getting quite noisy. I had purchased some other aluminum tape from a local hardware store but it was much thinner so the repair only lasted a few days then the tape would blow out and needed to be done again. The vehicle is 14 years old and I only plan on driving it for a few more months so I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new exhaust so I tried the tape. I saw this tape on Amazon and the reviews were quite good so I ordered some to give it a try. It is much thicker and the adhesive backing is really good. I found it stuck to the muffler really well and because of the thickness of the tape I only need to wrap a single layer. I know this tape isn't designed for this type of application but I though for the price it was worth a shot. After finishing the repair I started up the van and it was quiet. I drove it around for a few days and it was still quiet. I have now driven a couple hundred miles or so with it and the repair is still holding really well. I am very happy with it and especially happy about the fact this saved me from having to shell out a lot of money on a new exhaust. There is something like 1000 feet of tape on the roll and I only used a few feet for this repair but I know I will have other uses for it, plus if the repair blows out after a while I will be able to fix it again. So far so good!!
