Love horses and any movie that involves show jumping
I have always loved horses and show jumping and even had for eight and a half years got to work at a horse show barn and got to not only make both human and horse friends but also got to watch lessons but also show jumping and cherished that part of my life and wish I could relive it again. I hadn't seen this movie in a long time can't remember how long it had been and though it is a simple movie and of course some things now that I have experienced the actual show jumping things that could be fixed but that is more to do with the actual movie which I still love and the horses who star in the movie are gorgeous especially Danny!

pony power
Honestly the movie does not hold up over time, its dated, its certainly more a direct to dvd kind of film if it were made in this day and age. Honestly I read the book when I was a kid in the late 80's and that has a lot more depth to it then the movie did, infact my book, bought used, said "now a major motion picture" and had the image of Rebecca Page leading Danny across the grass with the trees in the background. I was never able to find the movie in the 80's or 90's...and forgot about it once I reached High School in the late mid 90's. Thanks to the internet of things and Amazon I took a chance and looked for the book, since my moron sister tossed it out, instead I stumbled upon the MOVIE. SQUEE!!! So much better(search for book, no luck) It is a children's movie, a "coming of age" and a realization of the world type of movie, shockingly you can have a movie with out swearing, with out violence, and while maybe not "riveting" and "have you on the edge of your seat" action, no major CGI effects, no Jerry Bruckheimer explosions, its horses, ponys and what life kinda used to be like, you know back when kids could wander around unattended with out people calling CPS on a parent. Is it idealistic, sure, but like all things dim and hazy in our memories, it was the good old days. Its a good movie for a horse person, its a good movie for kids. To bad no one made a movie of The Monday Horses or The Crumb, those might have been more "riveting"(both books by Jean Slaughter Doty of the same time period)

Oldie but True to the Heart
I watched this movie when I was a kid. I loved it then as much now. Horses have been a part of my life and now they are part of my children's. My youngest has that passion and heart for horses. We just finished watching it together. For 4 years old she sat, entranced, loving every minute. It may be dated, but the heart of the story is one that connects with any horse lover.

Fun fact about this movie.
Here's a fun fact: The irony behind the scenes of this movie is that "Rebecca Page" aka: Page Feldman, was actually the spoiled rotten, rich, daddy's girl who nobody liked to be around in real life. I grew up down the road and my sister and I played the parts of the real life poor girls that got crapped on by people like Page. Ah well. It was nice to see the old neighborhood.

the kids have old-school manners!
This movie is incorrectly billed as being from 2007, which is clear as soon as you begin watching it (BTW, IMDB says it was released in 1977). I loved that the kids had such impeccable old-school manners and that it's a clean family movie.

A beautiful horse story for all ages.
Though a bit outdated in the areas of music & costuming, Danny is a beautiful portrayal of the love of a girl for her horse. l've found that many horse movies are fraught w/ pathos to the point that they are not appropriate for young viewers. Danny has a sufficient amount of tension to keep you on the edge of your seat without being too difficult for young viewers to watch. I loved it!

A winner if you love horses, vintage
Wonderful storyline, a bit wooden on the camera work and some of the acting is a bit predictable. But that doesn't keep it from being a solid family-friendly picture with good lessons for us all

The 2nd best horse movie out there! A must see for horse lovers of all ages!
I remember the first time I say this movie as a child. Now watching it again at age 30, it's just as good. Sure the movie was filmed in the 70s or 80s, but most everything about the movie still goes. International Velvet is the only other horse movie out there that's this legit! It's a must see for all horse lovers great and small.
