Great Outdoor Speakers
Purchased these speakers about 4 years ago. They sound as good now as the day I bought them. They still look as good too, which blows me away. They sit below a tin roof over a wooden deck outside my family room - no side protection. I live a block from the Intracoastal Waterway in St Augustine, Florida. That is a salt water river, my friends. They have endured two hurricanes in the past two years, several northeasters, and crazy humidity and rain. They just keep on truckin'. I cannot imagine better value for the money than these things. They have really good sound and they are incredibly durable. Highly recommended to anyone with a boat or a covered porch like mine. Oh, and they sound really good. They crank. They kick. They last. Great price, worth every penny.

Tough to beat and packed with sound
Had previously ordered another pair of speakers, from a different but reputable name, and they were alright but I was a little disappointed. Okay, maybe more than a little disappointed. Ran across these and thought they seemed a promising alternative. Having prior experience with other Kicker products for the home and car, I suppose I should have just gone with these up front. I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. In fact, I would say I was rather amazed by the sound. By any stretch of the definition I am not what many would consider an audiophile however I know precisely what supports my listening pleasure. These speakers certainly fall into that category. My application is under the deck in the back yard, powered by an older Sony STR-D715 receiver. On the front channels an 8-ohm load is pushing about a 100W output. I don’t overdrive them but I have cranked them up to test their limits. These carry a lot of sound for a little enclosure. If you want thumping bass that you can feel in your chest, get a sub-woofer. But understand the bass output on these is quite respectable for their size. And the mids and highs are bright and clear. At the price point (I picked mine up for less than $100) you simply can’t go wrong and I am very satisfied with this purchase. Tried several types of music and most all bring a smile to my face. Kicker has come through once again.

Mounted Outdoors in Southeast Louisiana
I have these mounted under the eaves of my outdoor shed. And they're still going strong. No visible evidence of any rust or deterioration, and like most years, we've had more than our share of rain since I installed these a few months ago. And if you are familiar with southeast Louisiana, you know we get our share of steady, hard, driving rain and summer days of relentless sun that'll bleach out the best outdoor furniture. So if you're worried about durability, don't. As far as the sound, they sound like Kickers. Full sound. Not boomy. Not tinny. I have four mounted. Two facing north to my work area, two facing east towards our outdoor sitting area, each pair assigned to its own zone so I can isolate either side or play all four at once. I keep the volume relatively low, and it fills my patio area. If I were going to use them to blast music for an outdoor gathering, They could easily handle the task. Not so sure about blasting a few acres, but for a normal area like a pool deck or 50 x 50 yard they're more than enough. Would recommend. Would buy again, but probably won't need to.

Really good speakers that should fill a large deck with sound, but just okay for larger outdoor areas.
These work well, but not amazingly well. Keep in mind that I attempted to use these as outdoor entertainment for quite a large area. I installed these in opposing trees, and angled each toward the center of the lawn. Trees are approximately 30 feet apart, lawn is not super large, but I suspect these speakers are designed more for a back deck or other smaller area. They do a good job, but not an amazing job. I actually re-ran speaker wire after first installation because they distorted at high volume and I assumed this was arising from increased resistance from such a long run (approx 100 ft of wire per side), so I decided to use larger gauge wire (I went from 18 to 14 gauge wire). After this there was some improvement but still not what I expected. My second solution was to provide dedicated amplification to the speakers (previously I was running a subwoofer and these from a single set of speaker outs, using the high-level inputs on the sub and the crossed-over outputs from the sub to these speakers). With dedicated amplification, there was further improvement, but again still not what I really had invisioned. Perhaps I expected too much. Now, I must say to all potential buyers, these speakers sound really, really good, and will likely fill a typical backyard deck--where listeners are much closer than the area I tried to fill--very well. My application may require more power, as I am using an Onkyo receiver rated for around 80 watts. For such a large area, I recommend a ridiculous amount of really good, clean power (like 120 or more real watts from a high-current separate amplifier/preamp combo or a really high quality receiver). So, these are really good, but not "make your own outdoor concert, amazingly good." Try them in a more typical setting, like a porch, garage, back deck, etc., and I'm sure you'll like them a lot. In the pics below, you can see the speakers in the trees, and on each side of the outdoor screen you are able to see how far apart the trees are. The screen is about 12 feet tall, so you can get a sense of scale. Also note that although some reviews say not to mount them directly in the open, the first page of the manual says something to the effect "these are designed to be mounted in an open air environment." So I may put a little roof over them, but I think they are fine as they are.

Really Good - Works Well - Clean - Solid
Purchassed two pairs. One pair running via sonos connect amp for lakeside deck. Speakers sound great all over the deck. Base is solid and full range has clean sound all the way to the top of the range. Only when at max can you hear a touch of any distoration or some reduced sound quality. Have sonos zone set to 85%. Deck is 40x14 feetSecond pair is out front in courtyard and driveway. Powered by dennon amp and hooked up to sonos connect also. Dennon amp volume set to 0db and sond quality is same as when powered by connect amp. However when volume increased on amp these speakers go much louder and base is great also. However sound quality is reduced a touch which is why I have amp set to 0db. These speakers are covering a 15 car courtyard area and facing through that down the driveway leading up to it and sound can be heard 300 feet away. Quality and clarity is still good at 150 feet no problem. For $300 for two pairs. For Outdoor Speakers that sound this good with solid full range and base. What more can you want. Reviews on these are good for a reason. Value is there 100%

Decent speakers for the money!
I have heard slightly lower cost speakers with more dynamic range but I have a feeling these will last a long time outdoors in the elements. Speaker grilles are easy to remove and flip around if mounting upside down with the tweeters on the bottom to ensure the emblem is still vertical. They sound much better when they break in fully. Quite satisfied overall!

A good, low cost, speaker pair.
Very pleased with this purchase. If you are expecting very high end sound, buy something more expensive. These speakers have a fair range for patio use. No one has complained about the sound.

Wow!
I’m going to purchase a second set for outside on my deck. These little 6.5’s pound all day long. Just be sure to take the time and properly break them in.
