World Class Organic Ceremonial Matcha! :-)
Taste of Kyoto Organic Matcha... Simply the finest, best tasting Matcha in the marketplace for the money! And if money was not the issue... this is still the very best! To those that posit it does not "mix well" or that it is "lumpy"... you are not doing the process correctly. Not a criticism just a statement based on reality. Sift the Matcha properly with a fine strainer and mix the correct portion with a small amount of (not too) hot water... (about a 1 teaspoon of water to 1/2 a teaspoon of Matcha) and stir it into an smooth even paste. Pour water at 158 degrees F into the cup and whisk by hand with a wooden whisk or do what I do... use a battery powered frother. When done with this evolution you arrive at a smooth even texture with a generous layer of bright green foam (that resembles whipped cream) on top. No lumps. just a bit of fine residue on the bottom of the cup (if anything). I've had the opportunity to communicate with the powers that be of Taste of Kyoto and they operate at the highest level of customer service and satisfaction. This company is old school customer centric. They thrive on quality of product and excellence of customer service. Having tried over 50 brands of Ceremonial Matcha I can honestly say that dollar for dollar this is the best Matcha I have ever consumed! No other even comes close. 😊

Best Matcha out there.
I have a huge concern with this product. I searched all brands of Matcha Tea and this was considered a superior brand and for the large size, it was a good deal. The first half of the bag was exactly what I expected a quality Matcha Tea to be. However after I used half of the bag, the bottom half I don't believe is true Matcha. When I make a cup, it's more like green water. I KNOW the bottom half of the bag is different from the top half. I was going to try and file a complaint or get a partial refund of some sort, but they say my window of return/refund closed a month after purchasing it. I feel like I was duped and out over $100.00 Update: The seller was very customer service oriented - which makes a huge difference. I decided to give it another chance and ordered another bag. Since then, I average about 1 bag every other month. I love this stuff and the seller credits me the shipping charges for being a repeat customer! I still don't know what happened to the first bag I ordered; however the seller made it right, I gave it another try, and I'm happily drinking this matcha tea each morning. Thanks Taste Of Kyoto! Update 2021: I am STILL drinking this Matcha. It's amazing. A few months ago, I decided to try a very affordable culinary grade from another brand that was getting great reviews. I also tried an even more expensive ceremonial grade from a brand with stellar reviews. I still prefer this Matcha. Make sure you order from the seller Taste of Kyoto though. They are awesome!!

The best matcha I've tried
On surface level, the star rating on Amazon is not great. But seems like most are complaints about expiration dates rather than the matcha itself. The first time I tried this brand was from a Japanese shop and I've been hooked ever since. They had some stock issues on Amazon so I ventured off to other ceremonial grade matcha online or offline, and after trying 5 other brands that are sometimes more expensive, nothing has the same strongly earthy, authentic tea taste like this one. The taste is still light and fresh, just has more of a tea taste than watered down nothing.

Let's do the math...
Respectable quality ceremonial grade matcha. While not the most vibrant of flavor, it's not bitter and totally drinkable straight. Compares closely to other ceremonials I've tried; Do Matcha, etc. Cost per ounce is around or under half the price of comparable competitor's 1 oz. tins. This item is the way to go if you drink straight matcha often.

I am glad that I did
I was a bit hesitant on spending over $100 for matcha, but seeing as how it was organic and was considerably cheaper than other organic matcha brands, I decided to give it a try. I am glad that I did! I have done my matcha research and you really want the matcha that has a vibrant green color. If it is brownish, the matcha doesn't have the same taste and ends up being bitter (not in a good way). Also, for drinking, you want the ceremonial grade. I adore this brand, and will continue to purchase from them. A word of advice though is that you should store some in a vacuum container for your everyday use separate from the entire bag. You should limit the exposure of matcha to air because it makes the matcha go bad quicker. In the picture, you can see TOK matcha on the left hand side compared to Vitacost organic matcha ($8 for under 2 oz). Definitely high quality!

Good quality and tasty matcha
I’ve tried a lot of different brands of matcha on Amazon, both ceremonial-grade and culinary-grade. Taste of Kyoto Culinary Matcha is my favorite. Even better when I am able to save money and buy this bulk bag on Subscribe and Save! I like to drink this culinary matcha cold or hot with oat or soy milk. I use a hand-held frother to mix it well so there are no clumps. When I want to drink matcha straight with just water, I drink Taste of Kyoto’s Reserve Matcha because it’s definitely smooth and never bitter, but when I want that classic green tea flavor, this culinary matcha is my choice. It’s still smoother than most I’ve tried here on Amazon, and is better or comparable with the more expensive ceremonial-grade options I’ve tried. I love it!

Shelf Life Issue
I love the matcha itself but I am not satisfied with the service, to be precise, the lack of inventory management. I received a package with a expiry date in 2024 in My last order , but my newest order the expiry date is Oct 2023. And this had happened many times in my history of ordering Teste of Kyoto reserve Matcha. I am a loyal fan, have been drinking this matcha for the last 15 years, I would love to see some improvement in inventory control. First Expiry First Out, ring a bell?
