Very effective for maintaining dental health.
During the past fifteen+ years of my mission to maintain the dental health of my Papillon, I have tried many products. I always realized how much Prodent PlaqueOff helped when I stopped using it to try something else. At some point along the way, the evidence convinced me stop looking a gift horse in the mouth, and since then a scoop of PlaqueOff has been in his dinner bowl every night. It has no adverse side effects, it is easy and consistent to administer with meals, it does not appear to have palatability issues, it is affordable-especially when compared to the cost of teeth cleanings and most important; IT IS EFFECTIVE. Using PlaqueOff did not mean Louie never needed another teeth cleaning, but it did reduce the need from once per year to two or more years. He has lost several teeth over the years, but at fifteen+ he still has all canines and molars; this is a remarkable accomplishment for his breed. Statistically, most Papillion have lost all their teeth by this age. Over the years we have used PlaqueOff in combination with water additives, toothpaste, Greenies, rawhide, bones, etc. His interest and ability to utilize various products has changed over time, PlaqueOff has been the constant. At this point in his life, it is one of the few dental health products he has the ability to utilize. My boy may fight getting his teeth brushed these days, but he still loves to eat! Prodent PlaqueOff is a product I highly recommend to those who are interested in providing the best possible dental care for their pets. I think it is an especially important product for cat and toy breed dog owners who are especially challenged with maintaining their pets dental health. I hope this info helps.

Amazing results
We have been using this with our dog for a little over a year and are very impressed! Prior to using this, a dental cleaning was recommended for our dog about once per year. Using this product (even a few times a week instead of the recommended once daily) worked on our dog's teeth well enough to push her recommended annual dental cleaning out to being once every other year. At our dog's most recent dental cleaning, her teeth were in the best condition in awhile and required no teeth extractions or other work! As a dentist and dog owner, I am very pleased with this product. Our dog loves when we sprinkle it on her food and as an added bonus, seems to enjoy eating her food more with it.

Works good! Not a substitute for brushing.
This stuff isn't gonna work miracles as a substitute for actually getting your dog to chew their food and use their teeth, but it is a noticeable improvement to their plaque and breath even so. It's an addition to help their teeth, but it's not a substitute, if that makes sense. My dogs hate teeth brushing; I got them older and they hadn't had it before. So I use this, dental chews, and other lick things with fluoride in them to keep their teeth in as good of shape as I can manage. At the end of the day, convincing your pet to slow down and chew their food is the best bet to healthy teeth, and slow feeders are good for that, and dental chews, but I have two labradors, who see food and immediately lose all reason, so other stuff like this tarter stuff is needed. It does help, but it's not going to replace the need for being mindful of your pet's teeth. It does have a strange smell. My dogs don't mind it mixed into their food, but they're labs, and that breed eats anything. A picky eater might be wary. My biggest complaint though, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the container itself. Its so tall and narrow-- smaller than the photo makes it look-- that it's hard to get the stuff out once you're halfway through the thing. I ended up buying another container to just dump the stuff into, but it sucks to have to do that when I'm already paying 20+ dollars for a pretty small thing.

I gift this to my friends pets
Save yourself thousands of dollars over the lifespan of your cats and dogs. There's no need for dental cleaning once your pet starts using it. My last pet, a cat, passed away in the spring of 2020. So I haven't used it since then. However, I first started using it around 2008 when I had two other cats. Before using it, I had to take a cat to get its teeth cleaned. $300. Then I found this stuff. My cats received compliments on their dental health for the rest of their lives. When I got "catted" the next time, I immediately used this stuff in her food. Again, the compliments came. It comes with its own scoop as a powder. The serving size is very small; it's only about 1/16 of a teaspoon. My cats didn't initially care for the taste, but they got used to it once it was mixed into their food. The enzymes in the ingredients are what eat away the tartar on your dog's and cats' teeth. If I ever get another cat, after kitty litter, this is the next thing I'm buying for it. Again, maintain your pets' dental health with this.

Caused both cats to vomit and an expensive trip to the vet for one of them
When I took one of my cats in for a routine check-up, the vet mentioned that they could use a dental cleaning because of plaque build up on their teeth. I told the vet I have tried brushing their teeth in the past, but had difficulties with it, which is true. My cat is very petite, so her small mouth his difficult to work with when trying to use a tooth brush on her, even when using the smallest pet tooth brush I can find. So the vet recommended this product. Orered it here on Amazon and gave it a try. I have another cat who I decided to give this to as well. They both ate the dry food with the powder just fine. but then the vomiting started. I didn't blame it on the Plaque off immediately, because the vomiting wasn't consistent. For both cats, they didn't vomit instantly after eating the food with the plaque off. But for one of my cats, the vomiting was a big concern, because she has a history of IBD. She hadn't had a relapse of it in over a year, and was on an even stricter diet since her last IBD relapse. SO I was very confused. It made no sense that she'd have a relapse now when her current diet had been working well for her IBD. but then one day, she threw up her dry food immediately after eating it. Luckily, she already had a vet appointment scheduled that day to get a re-check on an ear infection she had. SO I called the vet and asked for bloodwork to be done. Blood test results came back totally normal. She hadn't had bloodwork done in over a year, so it wasn't a huge waste, but it was still almost $200 to get that done. My vet said to stop giving her the plaque off. No more vomiting after that. I also stopped giving it to my other cat. He had been throwing up sometimes soon after eating. But he often throws up from eating too fast, so I didn't immediately blame it on the plaque off. But once I stopped giving him the plaque off, the vomiting stopped. He'll still sometime throw up after eating too fast, but when he was eating his food with the plaque off, it happened much more. So in conclusion, despite being made out of only seaweed, this product did not help my cats at all and just caused them to vomit. my IBD cat still needs a dental cleaning, but I'll just have to go back to trying to use a toothbrush instead until I can afford to bit the bullet and do a full dental cleaning at the vet

Works Well for Dental Health, but Not Without Drawbacks
I’ve seen some clear improvements in my dog’s teeth since using this dental supplement. His plaque buildup has reduced noticeably, and his teeth look cleaner and whiter overall. I’ve also noticed better breath quality, which is a big plus. In terms of effectiveness, I can see why some customers say it’s even better than professional cleanings at the vet because it really does make a difference. However, it’s not perfect. While some dogs seem to tolerate it with no issues, mine had a bit of diarrhea during the first few days of using it. It eventually settled down, but it’s definitely something to watch for, especially if your dog has a sensitive stomach. The smell is another mixed bag. Some say it smells great; personally, I find it a bit unpleasant, though my dog doesn’t seem to mind. As for the price, I’m on the fence. It is expensive, but if it helps avoid frequent vet cleanings, I can see how it might save money in the long run. Still, for what you get, it feels a little overpriced. Overall, it’s a decent supplement that delivers real dental benefits, but the potential side effects and high cost keep it from being a perfect product.

Excellent product
Very impressed by this product and how it has cleaned my german shephards teeth and gums. Also has helped greatly with my dogs bad breath. It's important to be consistent with using the product. I add to my dog's morning batch of dry food. I been using it now for about 8 months.

This works- your dogs, and your wallet, will thank you!
I cannot rave about this enough! I have a Dachshund mix, and they traditionally are prone to ear periodontal disease, so I have been careful in ensuring my dog's teeth get daily at home care. In addition to enzymatic toothpaste and dental chews, my dogs get this on their food every morning. Within about 3-4 weeks, there was noticeably less buildup on those hard-to-reach back molars. How I wish I had taken photos! The dogs don't seem to notice the powder is there, so it must not taste too bad. Needless to say I don't anticipate my dogs needing a professional dental cleaning as frequently going forward. The value of that is without comparison.
