My three year old grandson loves it!! I had no idea what it was as he told me he wanted an Elasmosaurus! I learned something new from a dinosaur obsessed three year old! He’s been trying to take it to bed , but his mom told him it’s not safe, so he keeps it on the window ledge next to his bed at night…

I bought this for my classroom to teach animal body parts, dinosaurs, herbivore v. carnivore, and land/air/water dinosaurs. I bought this together with the Mosasaur as my example of a water dinosaur. Great level of detail on the model and the kids loved it!

This Safari Elasmosaurus is approximately 10 inches long and features the scientifically-correct horizontally-extended neck (unlike some other models which feature the vertically-elevated Loch Ness "Nessie" neck). The model has a textured upper-body with a drab green finish and amber lower-body. In comparing the Safari Elasmosaurus to the Papo Plesiosaurus (which has the incorrect vertically-elevated neck), the head's features are not as detailed as the Plesiosurus and the paint application on the teeth, mouth, eyes, etc. is not as crisp. The Safari Elasmosaurus is a scientifically-correct model, but it lacks the detailed features and sharp paint application of its Papo competitor. It is recommended for any prehistoric model collection because of its scientifically-correct neck position that is lacking on other models.
