Quality product and Quiet
I originally gave it a three because movements in these clocks (German) are 12 to 14 dollars, while ones from China are around five to six. So that’s about $200 for an aluminium case imported from a large country in Asia. The quality of powder coating is good though. Hands & distinctive seconds ‘paddle’ match well with markings. But is the clock worth $215? Depends.... It has ‘Mondaine’ & “Official Railways Clock Design” on it, so probably paying for the name. Or so I thought. Revision Sept, 2017: A recent purchase of a Sieko wall clock has given me new respect for the German movement, design, and QC for the Mondaine. The movement isn't just snapped in place and held by clamps and an adhesive ring like 'throw-away' models. The Mondaine is all metal construction (except for movement) and that might be a plus. Formed plastic can act as an amplifier and make for a very loud Tick-Tick sound not present on the Mondaine. The clock is arm's length from my nightstand and can't hear it. The plastic Seiko was across the room, and after three months "tick-tick" turned into TICK! TICK! It got so loud, we finally had to put it out on patio. The,Mondiane is still very accurate on only its second battery. By contrast, a two month old 'generic' brand kitchen clock with sweeping second hand is already several minutes fast. Bottom line: If you can still find one, it might be worth the extra money. I had thought "Mondaine" name was hype, but it's well made, very accurate, and incredibly quiet for a step movement clock.

Great Clock!
Yes, it is not cheap. But it is a very solidly made clock. It is a Swiss design. Mondaine is the holder of the rights to the Swiss Railway Clock line of clocks and watches. They are not watchmakers. The quality of this clock is exceptional The body is metal, the cristal is glass. Made in China, but to very high standards. The movement is a German quartz movement, the best on the market. Extremely accurate. I have this clock in the kitchen. It is a joy to look at every day. The classic face is beautiful and very readable. I am so glad I replaced my digital LA CROSSE radio clock, that always had difficulty getting signal... The Mondaine A990 Clock gets me back to simple and functional beauty that just works perfectly. I am looking forward to have to change the Daylight Saving Time manually!

MONDAINE IS THE BEST
Every train station in Switzerland has a bog Mondaine clock on the platform & in the office; there must be a reason. This simple but classy design is wonderful. Accurate time and beautiful presentation on our yellow wall makes it perfect. Well worth every $dollar!

Not worth it
To start off the new year, I thought this clock with the iconic Swiss design would be a worthwhile buy. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. It arrived at the expected delivery date; nothing to complain there. To my surprise, when I opened the box and took out the clock, I noticed that the second hand was not attached. I was not happy. A clock for its price should have better quality. From afar, it looked high quality. But with close inspection it was decent, not exceptional. I would not recommend this product. It is not worth the price: you are paying for the name.

stylish, solid and silent
It makes no sense to spend over $100 on a wall clock, however, this one is beautiful! The casing is strong with a glass front and a hand sweep along. Recommended!

Easy to read
This is surprisingly easy to read. Without numbers I thought it would be difficult. The problem with no digit designs is indexing. With this clock you can find 12 o’clock by the printed message, You have to be careful mounting it correctly. I added a white dot at the 12 o’clock line to help out. Stylewise it looks cool but the price is very high if you just want a wall clock.

If you want the Swiss train station look, this is it.
Nice real stainless steel housing rim. Smooth sweeping second hand. Appears to be well made and accurate (I just put it up so I will update in a few months on accuracy). Not: this is not the "stop to go" motion with the pause in the ticking second hand (& I knew that before I ordered, but there seems to be a lot of questions about that)
