Directions Spray 6-8 inches away from roots, section hair if necessary, apply to roots, massage in, brush out excess product. Review: I really am surprised by all of the negative reviews for this product; it is my absolute FAVORITE dry shampoo i have ever used. can cover grays in a pinch which is amazing. every other dry shampoo i've tried leaves a misty white residue which looks horrible on my dark brown hair. even other "brunette" dry shamps cover literally no grays and don't even absorb oil. my hair is extremely oily (perhaps everyone complaining on here that it made their hair too dry, actually doesn't have super oily hair) and looks unwashed after 2 days. this dry shampoo gets rid of both the look and feel of that grease, while adding lovely volume. after spraying it, i let it dry, then tousle my hair all over and BOOM my thin stringy hair has beautiful volume. this product is also the only thing that makes my hair retain smell - whenever i use it my husband says he loves the way my hair smells. the brown residue on hands...just use a makeup remover !!!! it never sticks on my hands as i use it while putting on makeup, so my hands need to be cleaned w a removing soap anyway. i even use press-on nails and they don't get stained using this. as far as the residue on clothes/pillow etc - you're probably using WAY too much. a little truly does go a very long way with this product. Review: The brunette formula is so messy! I used what I thought was a sparing amount since it is tinted: just two 1-2 second sprays aimed at the roots from the recommended distance. I ended up with a whole lot of brown powder on my face around my hairline, my brush turned DARK brown when I brushed it out, my light grey shirt had a brown collar by the end of the day with some brown drips from being rained-on, my pillowcase has a brown shadow, and my shower was full of icky brown residue when I washed it out. Gross!! Giving benefit of the doubt, maybe maybe it was user error? I read/followed the instructions and have been using dry shampoo for years and I didn’t think so but you never know. I think if you desired the brown powder to mask thinning roots or greys, you could probably learn to manage this product with time and a lot of practice. On the positive side, it smells fantastic, worked well to reduce the oiliness of my hair, and helped mask grey hairs. But it’s just really not for me.

This product will leave a brown residue if you touch your hair after spraying. I don’t constantly touch my hair, so it works great for me. It absorbs oil and gave me volume. I will be switching from the original to this product.

So, let me start by saying I love this brand’s products and I am genuinely sad this brunette detox is so awful. First, it is a medium brown. Not dark enough for me so it looks weird having warm brown sprayed onto my hair. It is sticky and messy, the brown rubs off on your hands even a full day later! Spraying it in general since it has the color in it was messy. I would not buy this again nor recommend unless you have warm brown hair(roots) and don’t mind the residue.

It smells horrible but it definitely does it’s job. On those days I’m just way too tired to get out of bed it’s a must! Plus it covers my grays which is nice. I think the quality justifies spending the extra money. Just be careful not to put too much on, because the color will transfer...for days! A little goes a long way.
