Never going back to sand!!!
We were having a lot of issues with our sand filter pump and it just wasn’t getting the water clean. It stayed foggy constantly and we could never figure out why it wasn’t working. We bought these filtering balls and said “hey if it doesn’t work, we only spent $20 bucks on it”.. we used them for 1 day and our pool was SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner! So clear! We couldn’t believe it. They are so easy to wash when they get dirty and do such a great job at filtering all the junk that gets in your pool. I couldn’t recommend this product enough.**adding to the review… our filter motor stopped working for about a week recently. We had tons of rain and our pool wasn’t regularly getting filtered since the pump was broke. Our pool turned green very quickly and once our new pump arrived we put it to work. Now I truly don’t think that with sand we could’ve gotten our pool clean after the week or so of algae buildup. These little balls have collected so much of the nasty in our pool that’s built up over the week and within NO JOKE 2 days our pool was back to being clear! I seriously cannot say enough about these filter balls. I’d buy them even if they were 100 dollars.

SOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN SAND OR GLASS in a sand filter.
These work on ANY sand filter system and soooooo much better than sand or glass. We did A LOT of research before purchasing these and it was worth it...we are so happy with the results. And depending on the amount of sand your filter requires will determine how many boxes of balls you need for your filter. You fill it to the top of the fill line just as if you were filling your filter with sand or glass. There are many charts on line to tell you how many boxes you need for your size filter, but just check your manual to see the sand requirement needed and buy accordingly. They say a 5 lb. box equals 50 lbs. of sand but I think it's actually even higher. We own an 18 X 10 Rectangular Above Ground pool by Bestway and our pump is 1,050-gallon filter pump with a water capacity: 3,913 gallons and close to 40 lbs. of sand needed to fill it to the fill line and we filled the filter to the fill line with the balls and our box looks like it is still completely full so you get several uses out of one box of balls for our size filter anyway. They say they will last several seasons if you use the right chemicals in your pool that are recommend (NEVER USE CLARIFIERS with these balls it will clog them up) and check and clean your balls as needed usually once a month. You don't need pool clarifiers with this product anyway, this product is soooooo easy and maintains a MUCH better water balance than when you use sand or glass. I bought a bucket just for rinsing these balls in (I don't use a bucket I use to clean my house because it could coat the balls with bad chemicals and I NEVER use tap water) I use clean pool water on them to clean them. They say you can use your washing machine to clean these, but I wouldn't chance introducing chemicals on them that may cause a water imbalance. Just check you PH once a week, use chlorine tablets, check you balls about once a month or more, and clean them or replace them as they get dirty and that's all you need to do.This is not something you just throw in your filter and never check all season even sand and glass should be cleaned often during each pool season, but one box of these goes a long way. We filled our filter and it barely made a dent in the ball supply out of the box. There are several months use in one 5lb. box if you don't want to have to clean the balls and just wanted to replace them with new ones each time. If used properly this system is AMAZING!We never need anything other than Chlorine tablets and have not had algae or any other problems just crystal clear water. But we follow all pool maintenance rules and product recommendations closely too. Hope this helps :)

These saved my pool
We bought a new above ground pool this summer it came with filtration balls. Then we went to a pool supply store a bought the special sand needed. With in days of using the sand the water became cloudy then we got algae in the pool. After spending about $150 on chemicals kill the algae and treat the water, the vacuuming the dead algae out of the pool the water still look cloudy. We bought these filtration balls and used half of the package for one week, took the dirty ones out to wash them. The water at first was very very blue which I thought was odd. We put the other half of the package in the filter and by the end of the second week our pool water is crystal clear. The pool looks amazing. I am very impressed with this product. I would give it 100 stars if I could. I bought a second package just to have extra. This is a must buy and totally worth the money. Wish I had done this from the start instead of using sand which was a huge and costly mistake.

These are really good - waaaay better than sand
Been using Filterballs for several years, but they are very expensive - these CBL items do filter to a smaller particle size, are easier to handle, install and a cinch to clean - I have swapped over. Unusual that folks in the USA still use paper filters - we come from the UK where we have only used sand, which is way cheaper and better, but swapping sand to these type of cluster media is a no-brainer - way better filtering at a fraction of the cost and fully re-usable.
