Gaiam Yoga Mat Tote Bags

I wish I had read more reviews before ordering this. The product information says it will fit mats up to 28" and that is simply not true. The opening will fit but the bottom of the bag isn't as wide so as you can hopefully see by the pictures I attached, my Lululemon mat (which is 71x26) does not actually sit down into the bottom of the bag. This is very disappointing.

I purchased this mat bag in January, hoping it would carry all my gear. I teach yoga in a variety of venues and need a bag that can carry two mats, my small tablet (for music), a 17 oz. cola-shaped water bottle, a 9"x 6" notebook, and a hand towel, along with a pen and lip balm. This fall, I upgraded to a 5 mm-thick/24" wide Prana mat and carry it along with a standard-size Gaiam mat. Sadly, it has been a struggle fitting these items into the bag. Because the bag is tapered and is wider at the opening than at the base, I can fit the standard mat on the bottom and place the thicker mat on top of it, but that leaves precious little room for the other items. No matter how I pack it, it's difficult to get all three snaps to close. Usually it's only two snaps that connect.I am very disappointed in the quality of the bag. After only a few months of normal use (the bag is not abused) the lining of the interior pocket separated at the zipper. The material simply frayed and came apart. The worst part is that the straps are also coming apart. The fabric on the both sides of the straps is ripping away from the metal rings. Eventually, the material will rip fully and the bag will be useless. I have weighed the bag when fully loaded and it registers at around 10.5 lbs. I would think this bag should have sufficient durability to handle that load. I don't carry extraneous items; what I carry is what I need. I still carry my purse separately, when needed.My last Gaiam bag - a cotton/canvas single-mat bag that I overloaded for more than 13 years - is still going strong with, surprisingly, little wear. I expected the same level of quality with this bag and can't believe it may not even make it through one full year. I am now on the hunt for a new bag, which will not be a Gaiam product.

This yoga mat tote bag is GORGEOUS. I was not originally crazy about the color brown for this bag (or in general lol) but I liked the embroidery color, and the mandala design. When I received it, I could not believe how lovely it was, in person. Additionally, the embroidery is PERFECT, not a lost or loose stitch on it. I use it exclusively to store my Gaiam Sol premium 8mm mat (which is very thick at 8mm) and it fits, which I was concerned about. The bag is well made with a very nice lining and two generous, zipped pockets: one on the inside and another on the outside.My only criticism is that I have to struggle slightly with inserting the 8mm mat because it's a tight fit: the magnetic snap closures are often not lined up properly on both sides to close the bag without some small amount of adjustment. This bag is advertised as being able to hold the 8mm premium mat, and it does. Just be forewarned that it takes a few minutes and patience to get your mat inside with the bag properly closed. That said, I highly, HIGHLY recommend this yoga mat tote bag. SO happy with it!! :)

My wife was very skeptical at first... However, she decided to order the bag anyway. She's so glad that she did because she not only loves the beautiful Tree of Life embroidery but also is ecstatic that her Gaiam premium yoga mat along with a yoga blanket fit without any issues. She can also add a yoga block but, as a result, she is not able to close one of the three magnet buttons... Therefore, it just sits on top of the mat and blanket that are rolled together. She even enclosed a yoga strap within the inside zipper pocket.

Finally found a bag that will hold my stuff that I need to bring with me. This is how I fit it in. I laid down my 2 big blocks (9 x 6 x 4) on the bottom, strap inside pocket with room to put other small items, put my mat on top of the blocks, grab the sides of the bag, shake it down and I was able to snap it close. I can squeeze a small water bottle inside on one end but it's tight but doable. I still have the outside pocket for anything from a wallet, phone, keys, whatnot. So if you got 3" block, this will close with ease. I can see with time, the bag will stretch and I feel it will be easier to close the snap. Right now, I'm quite pleased and impressed after searching for so long to find a bag to fit my blocks with mat. Bag is high quality and looks like it will last for a long time to come. I'm debating about getting another one to have in case they ever discontinue this bag in the future

I'm updating my original review from september. My strap already broke off. Unfortunately I have to give 1 star now...I really hate to give a bad review because I usually love Gaiam products but I'm pretty disappointed in this bag. It's just simply not long enough for a standard yoga mat. I have the Manduka Black Pro and it is such a project getting it into this bag, and once it's finally squeezed in there, it's crooked and the fabric is all jammed up. It's aesthetically beautiful but it's just too small - length and height. It's not as big or roomy as the video shows. I think I must have received a defective bag because there is no way any other items can fit in with a mat.

The reason we bought it was the size advertised. the 26" mat does not fit in it even though the description is:- Fits any standard or premium mat up to 28" wide- Zippered Outside pocket with multiple inside pockets- Magnetic snaps for easy access and closure- Dimensions: 30.5"W x 6.5"D x 11"h with 33-inch shoulder strapsReal dimensions are: 24"W x 6"D x 11"H. My mat is 26" and won't fit at all.I regret not reading critical comments and surprised the Amazon or/and Gaiam did not fix the false advertising.Total deal breaker for me.

Useful for storing or carrying yoga mat. Strong and robust canvass. Feel the colour choices or white or grey green limited and for practicality oped for darker colour, but it's not very inspiring, despite the love embroidered image!

Love this bag. It’s the perfect fit for my mat, blocks, towel and strap . Lovely material and very light weight
