Hypnia 10 inch Memory Foam Mattress, Super King Size 6ft x 6ft6

I love my bed. So much so that when I lost it in my divorce settlement 16 years ago I paid my ex-wife to allow me to continue my relationship with it. I couldn't see me ever being parted from it. Imagine my shock and horror when the new love of my life gently but firmly informed me that a mattress is not for life but only for about 6 years. So began my quest for a new partner for my divan base and I travelled the path that so many others have trodden before me.The Hypnia Double Size Visco Memory Foam 10 Inch Mattress sounded too good to be true. A visit to the nearest bed shop confirmed that it was stunning value. I took the plunge.Only 24 hours after pressing the confirm purchase button I was staring at a white, cigar shaped tube that could not possibly be a mattress. I set it free and watched it grow. An hour later I had misgivings. My 10 inch mattress was only 8 inches deep. Had I been fooled? Hourly checks with the tape measure provided reassuring evidence that my new best friend was growing on me until I was truly spoiled by having the promised 10 inches. Okay, so there was that odd odour that doesn't occur in nature but another day later we were ready to begin our relationship in earnest.That was 2 months ago. Long enough for me to offer the following observations:The mattress is very comfortable and I feel like every inch of my body is being supported, dare I say caressed.It is a lot lighter in weight than its heavily sprung predecessor so tends to move more easily if you knock it accidentally.It seems to generate heat. At times I've been convinced the radiator was still on. So warm that I haven't switched to my winter duvet.The rave reviews are indeed true and my sleep has improved.It is excellent value for money.And last and most importantly - over the past 10 years or so I have suffered from intermittent back problems. I now seriously believe that these were due to not changing my mattress earlier. Not only has my back been pain free but I have also noticed far less of those annoying aches and pains that I assumed were par for the course for a bloke in his early 50's.What else can I say - Oh yes, those free pillows have been thrown in the wardrobe. Too small and not pillowy enough for me. As for the mattress - I look forward to the next 5 years and 10 months of our relationship.

I should have bought an 8 inch as 10 inch is way too high up (my feet don't touch the ground when I sit on it!) and the extra bulk of this item is not liked when trying to fit a fitted sheet as well as a heated under blanket. This is not the fault of the product but mine for not ordering the correct size and a warning to anyone else that the extra depth isn't needed anyway as it's quite firm.The memory foam works well for giving extra lumbar support and is quite cosy. It is squishy at first and quite soft, but it works better from your body heat, taking time to mold itself to you. Unfortunately I live where the nights get cold, and wanted to use this with a heated under blanket and am finding the foam doesn't quite mold itself to you through the fairly rigid under blanket with a mattress topper, so I might have to switch to getting a heated top blanket as one way or another I need to heat my bed before getting in.I was expecting from the other reviews a miracle to my back problems however I'm still waking up with a little back pain, but that might be from over working so perhaps Ibuprofen is needed as much as a new mattress. As for the smell, it was quite strong on the first 24 hours so I left it in the living room to grow before using the first night. I didn't smell it the second day.

Please beware of this product. Note the rapidly increasing high number of 1-star reviews and having purchased this product, I now realise the reason why.In the first few weeks, this mattress was very comfortable, it provided good support, and I had good sleep; although the temperature levels were difficult to cope with..However, after the first few weeks, the mattress had lost all of these desirable properties; it has become too soft, and it just sags with your body weight (i.e. no support). It is a double and my partner's side is identical.I do not intend to contact the seller to exchange the product or even pursue a refund (judging by the lack of success other reviewers are having, what's the point?).Hypnia are making it quite clear that they do not value repeat purchases thinking that they can make their money ripping off new customers.

We bought this to replace our 10 year old 1000 pocket sprung mattress. We were a bit unsure because we had never heard of Hypnia, and from researching memory foam mattresses it was quite clear many of the cheaper products were cheap for a reason. Many had a low density foam (25/35kg) and others had only an inch of memory foam on the top. What appealed to us was the 75kg density of this mattress and its 3 inches of memory foam. We also noticed that almost 400 people had reviewed it on Amazon with something like 90% rating it very highly.We also had a problem with the size of our sleigh bed, which was only 197 cms long, and we were concerned that the mattress would sit right. So we contacted Hypnia Customer Service via their web site and they were extremely helpful. I'm afraid I was a bit of a pain with them to be absolutely sure but they responded courteously and very helpfully each time.So we decided to go for it. We priced up all the options for buying it and Amazon were the cheapest, given that we wanted delivy to Central France. Although their purchase price was a little higher, their delivery cost was only £17! It came in 4 days. We made the mistake of checking it downstairs, and had a job getting it up the stairs as a result. It comes rolled up and is easy enough to carry like that, so get it to your bedroom before opening it up.We put it on the bed very easily and left it for two days to plump up. It's a great fit and we find it extremely comfortable. We find it warm as well and are now used to not rolling a couple of feet when we turn over! I've waited 3 weeks to post this review and we couldn't be happier. Hypnia Customer Service advised that you don't turn it over, but you should move it 'top to tail' every couple of months.
