A good weapon in the war against errant animal liquids
I am trying to figure out the negative reviews for this light. I've used this sort of light before when I suspected cats of dissing their litter box in favor of other parts of the house and I've not always had success getting the stains to show up. By contrast, this one seemed to pick things up fairly well. We had a problem situation here about a year ago and I purchased a black light but had trouble finding the offending areas. The light I am writing about was sent to me free of charge for reviewing purposes. The situation from last year between two cats has been resolved (one was a foster kitten who has since found a great home so the resident cat no longer expresses her displeasure by peeing everywhere as she did last year) but more recently we thought we smelled something suspiciously like cat pee near the washer and dryer. Sure enough I shined the light back there and part of the wall was illuminated. So the wall will get a good scrub down with an enzymatic cleaner. This is not the most powerful UV light you can find but my heavens it certainly is inexpensive and well worth its ten dollar (at the time of this review) pricetag. If it were double or triple the price I would likely only be giving four stars. When I review items I always balance price against performance and base my star rating on that. For the money I don't think you will find anything better. If you are diligent, you should be able to find the problem areas in your home relatively easily. Make sure you turn off the lights before setting out on your search. If you've never used one of these lights before all you need to know is that when you turn all ambient light off (you can't do this in the middle of the day unless you've drawn all the curtains) and shine this around the floors and walls, pet stains (as well as other things like cookie crumbs, and anything white will glow differently from everything else. Once you've ascertained that what's glowing is either pee or vomit stains, you can clean the mess (even if it's dried already) with a good enzymatic cleaner. Allow the cleaner to stay on the stain for a while before wiping it dry -- it needs to actually "eat" the stain and smell away.BOTTOM LINE: This is not an industrial strength UV light, but for the money it is an excellent value. When you are done needing it as a search and destroy weapon in the war against errant animal fluids, you can do some pretty nifty photography using it.

I thought I smelled dog pee in my home so I was able to use this and find the spot pretty quickly. I loved that this product came with batteries so that I didn't have to buy them seperately.I gave this four out of five stars only because the light is not very bright so in order to find the pee spot you basically have to get down on your hands and knees or squat down really low to see it. This would definitely be a five star product if you were able to stand and walk around while shining it.Nonetheless, Ive had this for a few months and I still use this product to make sure my toilet is clean (if you're a germaphobe DO NOT shine this thing in your bathroom!!) and to make sure I've cleaned up and random doggy accidents thoroughly!

The Cat and Dog Pee Finder
I thought this didn't work and I was going to return it - and then it worked. It works great on mostly even surfaces - surfaces with a lot of texture might be harder to spot for pee. You can see fresh and old pee stains under this, but you have to know where to look - sometimes white fuzzies from blankets and bigger dust pieces glow white under this, and it makes for a Where's Waldo kind of pee search. I even tried this on fresh dog pee in the grass - I could tell exactly where my pup peed and how much. On my uneven textured arm chairs this was a problem - they're multi coloured, and that is initially why I bought this UV light, which in that instance disappointed. For hardwood floors, wool rugs, leather couches and grass I can recommend. I might also buy the blue/black light, to see if that would work better - I read somewhere it's better for uneven surfaces.

Great product.
Works great. At first I stuck the internal battery holder in upside down so it didn't appear to work but once I got that sorted out it works great. Directions didn't give any advice and with two springs it didn't give a clue on proper placement of the ends. It works so well, I can see where one of my little darlings left a present for me. I'm now scared to look further since it illuminated the stain so well.

Great Customer Service
The light appears cheap in quality so why the 4 star review. Well, it did was it said it would. We turned out all the lights at night and did some walking around. It found most things but missed some. We attributed this to our deep pile carpet and that they were minor areas of urination. Our light started to fail soon after we got it. We let the seller know and they replaced it with no questions asked. That is great service. Hats off to you.

Great for finding pet stains and things you'd really rather not see but need to.
Wonderful little UV flashlight. Only slightly disappointed because it is really, really dim. You have to be in almost complete darkness to see any fluorescence from it. (A single 20-watt bulb in a 20'x20' room is enough to overpower this guy on fresh batteries.)Kinda disgusting to see everything left over, but that's not the flashlight's fault! ;-)

I purchased this to highlight areas where my cats had urinated in the a spare bedroom. It worked well but I ended up just pulling up all the carpet anyway since there was just no way to clean up the large stain. Will come in handy later on and was worth the purchase price.

Works Great!
The light works well and had identified multiple stains I had no idea were there. My only reason for only giving 4 stars is that it takes a little bit of work to get the light to actually illuminate by unscrewing/screwing back on the battery backing and/or lens.
