Compact with plenty of tools and robust aluminum scales
My Midnight Champ, essentially the same knife with the same tools but with translucent deep blue scales and a flashlight, found its way to the washing machine after several years of dutiful service, and I was appalled at the damage it sustained there (though, oddly, the LED light that's not water sealed still worked somehow). I decided it was time for a replacement especially since, since I purchased it, I have moved aboard a boat and prioritize submersibility when I jump overboard for a swim or go kayaking and things might go awry. This one's more durable at the expense of the light or, if you don't get one with the light, tweezers or toothpick. Is it odd that I really like the toothpicks on Victorinox knives? I even used them as...Toothpicks. But I digress. I like the wide array of tools on these MiniChamps regardless of which you choose. The bottle opener's a bit fidgety but otherwise, the only downside is how long it takes you to develop the ability to instinctively grab the right knife or tool out of the vast array it sports. The small phillips head screwdriver is the best small phillips head screwdriver I've ever had in terms of connecting exceptionally well with small phillips head screws. And as someone living a slightly more risky than average lifestyle, I like that it has a near-scalpel type blade and that the orange peeler one that's great for clamshell product packaging is also a pretty good design for cutting through clothes to access a wound with removing the item of clothing -- Which is probably what it was originally designed for. It's nice that it augments a first aid kit in the form of an everyday carry piece that's near always in my pocket. And with the aluminum scales, it's even thinner than with the plastic ones. I added a zipper tie to mine, so it's easier to handle and I have an inch more material to grab onto before it potentially slips out of my hand and falls overboard...And I break down in tears over losing a $50 exceptional and surprisingly manly looking for its size (with those checkered aluminum scales), pocket knife. I attached a proper lanyard with carabiner to my Victorinox Skipper Pro sailing knife, which I had to buy directly from Victorinox because Amazon didn't carry it at the time, but that would defeat the minimalist sizing of this one. Great job, Victorinox! I'll try to keep this one out of the marina washing machine.

Some Older Tools that you cannot get anymore on a classic design
This model of Victorinox featured knives is very special to me. It has not only achieved a perfect balance of features to size, but has 3 tools that are from the older "medical" Swiss Army knife featured before Victorinox broke away from the other company (name escapes me). The first such feature is a second blade that cuts like a scalpel... Not literally, but this blade is shaped so one can run it across something, while it is flush to the surface. This cutting architecture is very handy for cutting many items. For example, across a piece of paper to disengage it from a pad... The second feature is a small "gut hook" looking cutter. This has been rebranded as an "orange peeler" but again, it is a unique cutting architecture that allows one to go under to cut across an area. This could be used to cut straps, as an awl, and other things where leverage is needed... it is handy! The third such feature is a small spoon like tool that looks like a coke spoon lol. This tool is an excellent pill crusher, divider, it can pry, and even chisel. It has been rebranded as a cuticle pusher or some such nonsense lol. In addition to these very special tools which are no longer featured in most of the models this model has an excellent pen that uses the same technology as a fischer Pen... these pens are vacuum sealed and can write in any position. A Fischer pen alone will run one at least 30 bucks! why not just buy the whole tool? There is a scissors, and another great multipurpose tool that I am in love with! This tool features a very sturdy small, multi purpose Phillips head, wire stripper, and small bottle opener/hook. There is also a small regular screwdriver with an etched ruler, a file with point and a tweezers. ALL these items on a keychain sized knife! The build quality on this knife is "Swiss/Victorinox" quality... I cannot think of a tool that has as much to offer at such a small size. Just a fantastic value for keychain level carry. This is my favorite Swiss army knife... with no caveats. I would encourage people to buy it for reasons that stand out among the rest: Who knows how much longer one will be able to get those three "medical" tools mentioned above. We may soon not see those two cutting implements and the pill crusher. And, your getting a very well made pen that usually., by itself cost more than this entire instrument.

My daughter needed a small utility knife. Perfect size for her to carry in her back pack

I absolutely love this little thing! The size surprised me as I wanted something slightly bigger than the tiny Classic SD but still small enough to fit on my keychain to carry around every day without noticing it was there. This fits the bill perfectly and is so light and compact I really do forget it’s there and it’s amazing having a few handy tools on my keychain all the time! At first I thought there was a mistake and I’d received the Classic in Alox because it was so small but when I realised it was definitely the model I wanted I was really please at how compact it was because I knew I wouldn’t mind having it on my keychain on in a pocket all day, as I’d never even notice it was there! The tools are great quality, genuinely useful and very sharp. I’d definitely buy another one and will probably gift one of these to someone in the future because I love it so much and want to share the awesomeness! If only the slimmer alox version still included the tweezers though..
