Impressed
So very impressed with this chessboard and the company. I had previously purchased a different chessboard from them that was unique. Then I stumble across this. It arrived with a couple of parts missing, but the company more than made up for this in timing and effort. Quickly resolved the issue and allowed me to put it together. Quality is very nice, well above average. Pieces are well made and feel good in my hand. just over 4-foot square, it makes a great statement on my wall. Fun to play with my family that is not even living in my home, as they come home to visit and make it can take up to a week or longer to play a game but it has become a fun tradition already. I would recommend this product and company without reservation. Look forward to seeing future products

Missing pieces and cracked
Was excited to get this product in, to hang in my office. Received it with two missing shelving slits for the chess pieces to sit on. One of them was cracked and looks like someone tried to repair it?

Beautiful
I purchased two of these - one for myself and one for my Dad. Both came well packaged and without damage. I did put a screw in at a bad angle and used too much torque and it cracked the sides so be careful when putting it together. Otherwise both went together fine and the included drywall anchors were plenty to hold it up. We're now texting each other moves pretty much daily. It's a great way for us to finally play Chess again after all the years of saying we should.

pretty banged up right out of the box, cheap materials, at least the pieces seem nice
this just got delivered to my door about 3 hours ago. i was very eagerly awaiting it, and was excited to unbox it and put it together. first things first, this thing is cheap. upon opening up the box, i discovered various things broken or scuffed up. you can see most of these issues in the attached pictures. the box that holds all the pieces had broken, and i immediately got to glueing it back together. the white king's crown had detached from the main body, again had to glue it back together. the backing (the actual board) is already peeling apart and doubt it will last very long, especially here in new orleans where we have high heat/humidity. various pieces of the actual framework have scratch/scuff marks all over it (the pictures don't fully capture how bad the scuffs look, but they are very noticeable). the interlocking pieces that form each square were not cut properly or cleaned, so they didn't interlock as they should and there was just sawdust coming off when i tried locking them together. in order to finally get them to fit, i had to take some fine sandpaper and do some gentle sanding in the grooves so they would fit properly (note that the pictures with the sawdust are before i even got the sandpaper out). the tiny bag that all the screws came in had ripped, so i had to hunt for all the tiny screws/hardware in the giant box the whole thing came in, though luckily they were all there. long story short, this had way more problems than it should have had right out of the box, and will probably require you to do some light fixing before you can even use it. the pieces the board came with seem nice, and i'd say that's the most redeeming quality of the set, which is why i give 2 stars instead of 1. also despite the frame being all scuffed up and not looking terribly pretty, at least it seems sturdy. i have no doubt that the cardboard backing (the lighter/darker squares) that is already coming apart won't last terribly long, but i figure i can just deal with that when the time approaches and just make a new one out of a big piece of cardboard or paperboard. the last picture i'm posting is of the fully assembled board on the wall. it looks pretty decent from a distance where you can't see all the tiny problems. now i understand why most of these vertical boards cost 2 or 3 times this board. i guess you get what you pay for.

Best gift ever!!!
We love this on-going chess game; it’s BIG beautiful and perfectly geeky for our dining room wall. Back panels are cardboard not wood, but it’s truly not noticeable without investigation. Assembly takes sometime, and will stretch your spatial skills for a few moments. First line of wood in to build the frame is tricky when you start cross hatching, but after that first one goes in you are home free. Give yourself 30 minutes to an hour and an entire floors worth of room, I assembled in my living room floor and had no extra space. I was sharing the room with a Newfie...

Good for the price
I purchased this as a gift for my dad who is an avid player. Out of the box, I was a little worried with quality. The board itself is like a cardboard game board (not wood). The surface had noticable scratches, although not deep. The carved pieces looked okay, but had a funky smell. Despite all of this, it looks good once assembled and my dad loved it. It's actually quite large on the wall, but that's kind of fun. My overall assessment is that it's fine for the price paid. If you want quality, you'll have to pay for a high end version.

Good product
As promised. The backboard of the unit leaves a little to be desired, but the overall quality is good, the pieces nice, and I am very happy with the product.

I enjoy chess
This item was made cheaper than I expected, so I returned it but for the price, it was still a good product...Especially if you and your family or roommate(s) enjoy playing chess on the move.

Definitely a brilliant gift for people with kids, dogs, living in small spaces where you want to keep the game going for a couple of days without it being knocked or interrupted by calamities. My only complaint is that the recipient took a couple of attempts to put this together as there's no 'final' picture. If you're buying this as a gift, I strongly suggest you print the photo and add it in the box yourself.

No le damos las 5 estrellas porque el empaquetado podía estar mejor... los tornillos y clavos estaban sueltos y era fácil que se perdieran... aun así, estamos encantados, ha quedado precioso y esta en muy buen estado de conservación!!!!! MUCHAS GRACIAS!

Wood, just the frame maybe and that came scratched. The pieces are ok but that is it the bord is a sticker sellotaped down the middle and again showed signs of fatigue. I should have stopped when I looked at the box and it came as a kit to assemble but I put it together and was so disappointed I can't be bothered dismantling it to send it back. I would if I saw this in a shop only have paid £20.00 max
