Durable well-built tool.
I have used DeWalt tools for years. Although made in Mexico, the workmanship is excellent as is the form and function. I read the reviews of actual professional craftsmen and was convinced it was a good investment. The features are many such as vertical and horizontal miter that go up to 50 degrees. The 15-amp motor enables one to cut thick lumber. The built-in safety features allow for better safety when operating the saw. Another big feature is the blade is easily replaceable. I would recommend this saw to anyone, pro or DIY, great machine, decent price and safe saw.

A SOLID 5 star saw. Another deWALT home run!
I’m replacing a Hitachi 12” saw with laser that’s served me well for a decade? (Close to it if not) because it no longer holds true. Apparently mistakenly sawing in half a metal square does something to a saw. It would hold at 90, but if you went to 45 and back? It would be off again even after replacing the out of square blade. About THIS saw. I’m very impressed with the quality/build of this saw. The saw was square right out of the box and the XPS light is far better than a laser which I never even used on my old saw because it was pretty useless for precision work. This saw is even quieter and the included blade cuts like butter. Packaging was more than adequate. Everything was surrounded by styrofoam. The box didn’t even have a dent in it! I’ve seen boxes in the big box stores that looked more beat up than this one. If I had to complain? 1. The manual. DeWALT manuals are the worse. They need to stop making them long and then rolling them up when they package it! Every deWALT manual is like this, but you page through it once and hopefully never have to look at it again. 2. Would be the XPS light activation. I’d like it to come on when I lower the blade rather than having to turn it on and off. Or integrate it into the trigger somehow. Like split the trigger. Squeeze all of it to get the light, only half to just cut. I’m sure some people would complain about that. My old saw’s laser was the same way and was one reason why I never used it. Overall this is a really nice saw and I chose this over the very nice Harbor Freight sliding Hercules saw which is very competively priced mainly because deWALT has the better warranty (only 90 days on the HF), parts availability and reputation. For the price I paid you can’t beat this saw. If you can’t decide between the non-XPS light model and this saw GET THIS ONE! The light is really nice.

Fantastic saw.
I should start this review off by stating that I use this saw for more precision work than rough carpentry. I am more interested in accurate angles and tight miters than raw power. Luckily with this saw, I got both. First, when removing the saw from the box you get a sense of quality immediately. The saw was well packaged, almost to a fault. If they had thrown this thing off the back of the UPS truck without slowing down I think it would have been just fine. The saw's overall appearance and finish are great. The machined aluminum bed is bright, clean and smooth and the angle dial at the bottom is large and easy to see. Nothing wiggles or flexes and the saw has considerable heft that induces confidence but wont break your back. If you're doing finish work. I would recommend cutting through some stock to get most of the yellow off of the blade that will smear on your initial cuts. A minor inconvenience as this could be sanded off as well. While I thought that the XPS system would be a silly gimmick (at the time of purchase the XPS was cheaper than the regular model), I was pleasantly surprised. This system is dead on accurate. You have to get the blade close to what you're cutting to cast a defined shadow, but you'd likely be doing this anyways for a precision marking. The motor pulls strong and goes through hardwoods like oak, walnut and ash with ease. If all you're looking for is a durable job site saw that can blow through 2x4s like they aren't even there, this saw will work for you. If you're looking for a saw that can make perfect 45s on that rosewood jewelry box, this saw will work for you. Basically, whatever your purpose, I can attest that this saw will work for you.

A very good saw
I had hoped this saw would be as good as I heard it was. It is. Only needed one very small adjustment to the cutting blade perpendicular to the table surface. Easily done. The detent stops were dead on out-of-the-box. One thing I like about this saw is that when moved off one detent angle for another, when coming back to that previous angle the cut is exactly where it was before. I.e. the repeat angle cuts are perfect - as they should be. It's a very accurate and robust saw. Well worth the money paid it. 5-stars

Great saw.
Ready out of the box. No adjustments or fine tuning needed for accurate cuts. Dewalt is pricey for the market but well worth it.

From chopping 6x6 posts to fine trim work - this saw can do it all! This sliding, compound miter saw is a great investment for the everyday home owner. We bought it when beginning our fence project and have used it for two years on various projects around the house. The blade is easy to change. Buying new blades can be pricey but I am always keeping an eye out for deals if I know I have an upcoming project. Ensuring you have a sharp blade is also crucial when using nice, expensive wood to make clean cuts and reduce waste. The built in light on the saw is helpful to ensure precise cuts when in areas with dim lighting. Even my wife feels comfortable using it and felt proud cutting trim for our nursery. While not necessarily lightweight, it is portable enough to bring around the house to where you need to use it. If you're going to invest in the saw, I also recommend you purchase a table to clamp it to.

They say the light its a big improvement. I say its not im a trimmer and the accuracy its the most important. When I use the light it show small line but when you aproch the piece to cut i goes a little bigger. It its ok if you don't need precision 1 mm plus or less but if you want to be exactly must to push down the blade until it touch the piece of wood. Otherwise its not 100%. I think its a good machine, its not sheap, strong you can cut large pieces of baseboard. My only concern its the light its not accurate 100% it needs to touch the piece to be accurate. But normally thas the way to I do without the ligh.
