Q: Hi would this work on tarnished taps?

I honestly don't know - the stuff brings a very good lustre to aluminium alloy that has lost its polished finish due to weathering, and I suspect it works by filling the surface pores of the metal and once dry can be buffed to a decent shine. It has made a really good job of some motorcycle engine casings for example. If your taps are a similar sort of alloy then it could work for you. If the taps are chrome plated and that finish has deteriorated, then I think it would be less successful as chrome is a much denser metal and effectively has only microscopic pores to fill. It might brighten them up, though. If your taps are brass, and the brass has tarnished, I don't think the Silver Leaf would give you a satisfactory 'polished silver' effect, but, it just might brighten them to look ok with several careful applications. The manufacturers do have a 'gold' effect product that could be suitable for brass. What I would say, is that a tube of this stuff is cheaper than a new set of taps so you don't have much to lose by giving it a try! Good luck, and hope that helps. John.

I really don't know. I bought my Silver Leaf Rub n Buff to brighten up some cast aluminium parts on my motorcycles. It works brilliantly on them. I have not tried on any fabric, but the 'Bling My Shoes' trademark might be a clue that it is suitable! As well as a silver, they market a gold product as well, so both may suit your purpose. That said the product is not cheap (but good value for money) so before ordering I would be inclined to seek advice from the manufacturer or the supplier. Hope that helps.

Q: Can I use it to change the colour of a picture frame?

I can't say "Yes" because I honestly don't know. I would guess that it all depends on the original colour. If the original colour is light, then repeated applications of Silver Leaf would probably gradually build up the silver colouration - if the original colour is a dark shade, then that darker shade might 'grin' through even repeated applications, though you might find the silver sheen over the darker base an acceptable finish. The best I can suggest is that you try it and see. Sorry I can't be more helpful. John.

I have not tried using this on metal. It works very well rubbed into wood and I have used it on leather applying by rubbing it on with a finger. It goes a very long way. I have restored a chair with one tube of the gold covering the frame and the parts of the leather seat.
