This is a shockingly good idea that is also well executed. Products are as advertised. Customer service set some new standard for responsiveness with the accuracy, speed and completeness of their answers. It's not that I needed customer service to fix anything I just had some questions about long-term care and the starting weights of the hardware so I could keep records as I watch them expand. If you're not careful you'll end up with a new hobby and might end up buying their entire product line piece by peace. It happened to me. I now have a new hobby. You can enjoy these on many levels from oh wow look at the pretty lights, to the enzyme reaction that causes the light and the genetics behind it. You'll never look at algae again the same way. I wish I had this when I was 6 years old but it's not too late for anybody. These are the Original Gangster sea monkeys. It is an erector set chemistry set or just an art display or maybe you're subversively becoming good at saltwater aquariums and didn't even know it until it was too late. In the right hands this could accidentally produce a new generation of natural philosophers

I bought them as Christmas gifts, knowing full well I’d have to open them and get the process started myself. They arrived fast with perishable on the box. One is for my husband (and no longer a secret after I squealed when it lit up the first time about 4 days later), the second is for my brother and I’m a week in so just fed today. And then swirled tonight - pretty sick illuminated blue- and I am most excited to give this other one to one of my favorite humans. We are fascinated with the bioluminescent bay and it will be such a great opportunity to give my brother a part of that. I read some of the reviews and was so worried, bit the bullet and went for it anyway, always the pessimist thinking it wouldn’t work. However it did… but seriously open it immediately and follow what it says! Love how nature has so many really amazing organisms we can observe. When we get to having a lot of them we will get a bigger globe, and not waste the fascination! Thx, again and again. It gets brighter the longer you have it and after the first feeding I was addicted and will continue feeding and growing them. 😁😁 happy bio nerd.

I am a compulsive shopper and will pretty much purchase anything (within reason) that intrigues me. I watched a YouTube video that had this product in it and thought it was so cool that I wanted one for myself. It’s insane how these little guys emit actual light. It’s mesmerizing to watch and fun to show friends and family. It would make a great and unique gift, especially for those who are interested in marine biology

Wonderful so far waiting for glow

Well this sucks didn’t glow the first night I set it on top of the fireplace to get indirect sun the next day brown stuff so I fed it even though it said it didn’t need it but only if it has brown I swirled it and still nothing is glowing

Very easy to tend to, but bought this for school hoping kids could view bioluminescence in the day and that will not work.:(

We have had it for 9+ months and it is still glowing. So much for your science loving kids! The glass orb is beautiful and looks nice on a shelf. Great for people who love plants and is fool proof care for! Easy to set up and glows immediately! Great value!

These things are really neat. I got it on a whim for my wife, her and the kids really enjoyed it. The octopus stand really helps set it off too btw

Apres une semaine, pour permette au phytoplancton de se remettre des conditions de stress du transport, ainsi que du decalage horaire, la magie prend place de maniere de plus en plus spectaculaire. Entretien facile"videos disponibles sur le net", le phytoplancton n'a besoin que de lumière et des mineraux qu'il puise dans l'eau de mer. Trés bonne idée cadeau, je recommande.

Thought it would be as beautiful as the reviews had it for abit now and nothing sadly it was pretty for the first week?

Loved it for about two weeks. Glowed on the first night...seemed to go strong for almost two weeks...then it just stopped. Followed all directions including the ones if your plants stop glowing and nothing works. So I must assume they are dead. Basically 80$ for a small glass globe that is of no use for anything but it's intended purpose which didn't work anyway.

This product was shipped to Canada, it was for my niece’s birthday present. It only worked for couple days, despite following instructions. It cost us $120, plus a $12.99 shipping fee, and further more $20 duty fee. Contacted the company the sent replacement but it cost close to $40 to ship which we paid, now fedex is asking extra $53 which we refused to pay. As who knows if this will work. This gift cost to over $200 and is useless, I recommend not wasting your money.
