Great robot vac
Really good robot vac, the standard filter that came in as standard is poor however the premium ones that were in the box are miles better as they are easier to clip in and it has a netting over the filter to stop hair getting stuck in the fin design. Battery life is good and lasts about 30-40 minutes. Enough to do a standard ground floor of a house. The amount it picks up is really good and it's surprising how much dust has been picked up after you empty it. It struggles to pick up debris in corners a bit which is a slight let down. The app is brilliant and the ability to map out your house and set no go lines is really helpful. Just a shame no go lines are not enabled with Google assistant. It tells you when to replace filters, brushes and when to empty. You can also set schedules as to when to clean. You can only have 1 floorplan with this vac though. Which is a slight negative as my house has a step to the bedrooms which means the robot cant map out those rooms however you can still clean there by placing the robot down and pressing start on the vac itself. Negatives: Sometimes misses out one of my rooms for no apparent reason but it rarely happens. It doesn't tell you when the bin is full, you just have a timer as a reminder so after 30 or more minutes of cleaning it will remind you to empty. Would be nice to know when it's actually full as it often fills up before 30 mins. The vac can sometimes get confused and it is sometimes a struggle to reset it if it has encountered a problem on a cleaning run but again it happens quite rarely. You can buy the filters from AliExpress or other Chinese stored for a better price (shipping takes a while though) Would highly recommend

Not as good as the D7 despite being more expensive
Update: After using this for a couple of weeks I've decided to return it and look for another from a manufacturer who respects its customers. Charging more for a robot that does less than its predecessor is frankly a kick in the face to customers and the only option I have is to speak with my wallet and return it. It does not respect the no go zones, so it is often getting stuck under the TV units and scratching itself up. The physical magnetic strips that came with the D7 to stop it going where you don't want also don't work with the D8, so you can't use that as a fallback. It is way too noisy, even when the suction is turned off while it's navigating back home. There is no option to even be reminded after a certain amount of run time to empty the bin, because of this the bin got too full and clogged up the machine. When I spoke to support about this, they simply told me I have to just check after every clean. The cheaper D7 has an option in the old app to remind me after 30 minutes of run time, which is better but I expect a new robot to have some sort of sensor to tell me when to empty it, especially since the new robot is more expensive than the D7. Support told me none of the new robots have reminders to empty the bin, not even the extortionate D10. Shocking. Speaking of support, despite me telling them I have a D8 they continued to show me screenshots of the old app, despite the D8 only working with the new inferior MyNeato app. It regularly also gets stuck on a step which leads to the kitchen despite having drop sensors, and I have to manually pick it up to get it going again. Finally, I find it ridiculous that I can't even turn off the bleep-bloop sounds or voice on the robot. It's loud enough without needing obnoxious bleeps whenever it starts or ends. Again, the D7 and old app have an option to disable sounds which just doesn't exist in the new app. They're selling a worse product for more money, and I just don't find it acceptable. Trying to sell a product with less features for more money because it has a nicer design is a fool's errand and I am sad to see a once great, innovative company go the way of so many others and rip off customers for some extra revenue. Original review: I've been hestitant to upgrade to anything newer than a D7 because Neato have hiked the prices. The D8, despite being more expensive than the D7 and a higher number, is actually less capable than the D7. For example, the D7 has no go LINES while the D8 only has no go ZONES. Lines can be put anywhere, at any angle, but zones must be a box shape. The box shape means that if you have a weird angle to try and block off (like a TV unit at a 45 degree angle), then the zone must encompass the whole thing, which leaves part of the TV area unvacuumed. That isn't an issue with the D7 because it can handle no go LINES at any angle, so you can just draw a 45 degree line in front of the TV unit and it will clean right up to it. The D7 has zone cleaning (meaning you can tell it to clean a specific room or area of a room), the D8 can't do this and just has to clean the whole area it's based in. The D7 has other features like gentle navigation on/off, which just doesn't exist as an option for the D8. I can't even find a way to turn off sounds on the D8. The D7 and D8 have the same size bin (despite their marketing trying to make it sound like it's bigger), but inexplicably to remove the D8's bin you have to take off the top cover which spans the entire width of the robot, which means that when emptying it, it's much harder to lower it into a plastic bag etc to cleanly empty it without dust going everywhere. With the D7, it's a much smaller cover when removing it which makes it easier to fit into the kitchen bin. The D8 has a smaller battery, seems to be slower in actually completing the job and is generally just very noisy navigating. The wheels seems to squeak as it moves around. I also don't like the fact that it's a completely separate app and now the old app is no longer updated by Neato, despite the D7 being a better option. Generally, I think the D8 is way overpriced. It feels like a last ditch attempt for the company to make some money due to investor pressure. If you watch the D8/9/10 announcement from 2020 you'll see the Neato rep struggle to explain what makes the new models different from the previous models other than just the design, which is not an excuse to hike the price. Considering the D10 is likely the real replacement for the D7, you're looking at close to £1000 for the D10 compared to around £400-£500 for the D7. On a positive note, the D8 does still do a better job of navigating than any Roomba since it cleans the edges first like the D7, and it seems to pick up dirt about as much as the D7, but I miss a lot of the D7's features and regret not just buying the cheaper one. I just hope that the old app continues to work because it is superior in many ways.

Strong suctiob great result on high pile carpet
Pro - Really good result on my high pile carpet , better than the Dyson V8 that I've got plus I didn't have to do the work. Doesnt produce smell like cylinder vacuums do especially if you have a pet. Two mode quiet and strong suction guess the quiet mode is more than enough for normal floor and low pile carpet but for high pile later one is needed. Cons - App glitched a few times especially when using chat and go back in. Did not run every single corner in the room I guess if you have a funny shaped room or corners you will have to pick up and robot and drop it where you need cleaning. Overall pleased with the result considering it is a mid range product.

At last, a robot vac that’s both intelligent and functional
This is my 4th robot vac and finally I’ve found one that works as they should. My previous 3 were various cheaper round black clones that seem to fill up the listings here. Ok it was slightly more expensive, but wow, the difference is amazing. The good: 1) The mapping technology is incredible. Accurately maps out my flat in enormous detail, this means it’s not relying on bumping into everything to get around like the others do. Yes, it still gently bumps into stuff to get into small spaces, but it feels more controlled. The map is retained after cleaning so it doesn’t start out blind on every run. 2) The app feels more polished that the apps for the cheaper round clones. It’s reliable, doesn’t ask for crazy permissions and is simple to use 3) suction power is good and the front brush covers the width of the unit rather than 15cm across the middle. This means it picks up a lot. 4) it works well with Home Assistant 5) it’s bin capacity is large Not so good 1) it’s loud, even on gentle mode. Fortunately, I’ve programmed it to only start when I go out - but to do this, you need a home automation setup. 2) software limited to only hold one map. This means you can’t take it upstairs without it needing to do a new map run and again when you bring it back down.

I had an older model Neato for years. Loved it. It finally broke. I bought this one to replace. It worked well but broke after 3 months or so. I shipped it off to be repaired. Then total silence. Neato doesn't respond. Simply horrible customer service. Price is "great" for a reason--If it seems to be too good then... Buy something else

This supposed to be the3rd Neato Robot. Robot XV , lasted for 10 years until the fatidic laser problem. During Covid in 2020 got the D4, better software and smarter robot, small software issues but died in 2023 so lasted 3 years for the same reason in November, laser problems. so finally I decided to do a last dance with Neato D8 knowing the company is out of business I like the flat shape of robot. I got the brand new D8, installed the android 11app then had to install manually the firmware with my notebook connected to D8, after that nothing , just red and blue lights. D8 Robot never moved and firmware is not working at all. I tried to contact neato support with the app and only got messages from bot saying someone will contact me later, even today 3 weeks later no answer. At the end no support and I returned the robot. I like the brand and the shape much better than rounded Roomba's but with no support it is a useless device. I had no choice and got another brand
