Neon tubes are made with glass. They are fragile and easy to be damaged. However, it is easy to replace the neon tubes just like replacing light bulbs. Just make sure the power is off, remove the end caps in both ends, untwist the electric wires, pull out the neon tubes, install the replacement neon tubes, twist back the wires and put back the end caps,... Not as difficult as you may think.
