This book is the gold standard on the subject
This book is the GOLD standard for identification of german manufactured china head dolls. The book includes a range of different samples from each factory and shows how systematically and standardized the manufacture these dolls was even though they were made so long ago. Armed with these books, a hobbyist can confidently identify the china dolls in their collection. I know that was the first thing I did and found out the diversity I have in my own collection. Also, this is a beautiful book to look at and interesting to read the in-depth information in the book. Highly recommend this book to any doll collector interested in china or parian dolls.

Learn to identify the manufacturer of your china doll, and approximate date.
This newer book by Mary Krombholz is organized by factory, giving a better overview of the history of the seven major Thuringian porcelain factories that manufactured china dolls. This organization is more intuitive than her first book for comparing dolls made by one factory. A page of painting characteristics for that factory is included at the end of each chapter, with a range of examples shown. It is an excellent resource for learning the many types of china dolls, and learning how to distinguish by which factory an unmarked doll was made based on face painting characteristics. As with the previous book, the focus is on the shoulder-heads, not on the complete doll.

Only 5 Stars? This book gets 10!!
This is THE ultimate reference to German china head dolls. The pictures are fabulous and so clear! It's easy to use the ID guides and the all info is incredibly comprehensive. The books shows at least 100 chinas I've never seen before in any reference book or on any site -- and they're all sooo gorgeous. Throw everything else out. This fabulous reference is the only book you'll ever need if you collect German china dolls!!!

great photos wish there were more of frozen charlies
great photos wish there were more of frozen charlies, bisque bonnet heads; but I have managed to ID two of my dolls so far. Some are tricky and look similar despite different factories. Large hard cover, excellent condition. Great price. Cheaper than ebay using my prime. I started buying China head dolls last year and am learning a lot now, and seeing mistaken buys as well!
