Repetition is Bliss
This is a very simple game. Classic in other words. It's one little grid the entire game. The people you save and enemies don't vary to much. There's one song the entire time, so I hope you like it. There are a few power-ups in the game, but they are few and far between. There is a multiplayer mode where you switch off using the same controller. It's alright, but I refer to just go single and get my high score and then have someone else try to beat it. The score board is the best feature in my opinion just to see who can outdo who, but the computer/programmers set the bar very high. I don't think I'll ever knock those names off the bored. It's a grind fest though hundreds of painfully similar situations, but it's worth it if you have a group of people gunning for the top score.

the game is maybe not terribly amusing, but amusingly terrible. the gameplay from this game is pretty much the same as the original. the graphics are bright vibrant colours, which are quite fun. the gameplay element is very redundant and gets old fast. it's fun for a level or two but i wouldn't recomend this game for anyone.

Man this is fun.
My personal favorite entry in the series. The music is flat out awesome, it;s like trance-electronic-dubstep-techno. Combined with the vivid flashing lights this makes for a trippy, fast paced, rave-like arcade experience. Does chug when loading new levels sometimes. The game is awesome, period. If you dig retro arcade games grab it, I doubt you'll regret it.

Running this in my n64 arcade cab and it is hours of enjoyment.must recommend to everyone. one of the best n64 games hands down.

The graphics are simple looking.You are in the middle of the screen and little enemies are coming at you from all angles like the old arcade game asteroids.Its real lame-dont get it.

Got boring in 5 minutes
This game was much more entertaining in it's time. I bought it a while ago played it for 5 minutes then NEVER touched it again...

Without a doubt, Robotron 2084 is one of the best classic arcade games around. It was fast, furious, two-joystick action, and above all, it was hard. As years went by, a few similar games (Smash TV, Total Carnage) were released, and while they were good, they didn't capture the claustrophobic feel of Robotron. In December of 1996, Robotron X was released on the PlayStation. This polygonal take on the Robotron series was decent, but was also incredibly easy, and yes, even tedious. Midway promised that an N64 version would follow soon after, but weeks turned into months, and eventually Midway dropped the project. Crave Entertainment picked up the project, dusted it off, and released it - over a year later. It stands up to the PlayStation version, but still can't stand on its own.
The polygonal characters look all right, although they are incredibly small at times. The frame rate is better than the PlayStation version, which suffered from quite a bit of slowdown whenever the action got hectic. Graphically, the game is colorful but seemingly lifeless and uninteresting. At first glance, the game looks like it's moving faster than the old-school arcade version. But in reality, the game is very slow-paced. The robots never seem to get close enough to pose a threat. I went through 40 of the game's 200 levels before losing one life. The extra guys racked up in that time would have been more than enough to cruise through the game, but the game gets very tiresome after the 80th or 90th level. The game's soundtrack pales in comparison to the PlayStation version. You simply can't beat the storage space that a CD provides with a cartridge.
