MANSON FAMILY MANUAL: LIVING DANGEROUSLY WITH CHARLES MANSON Review: Charles Manson & his Manson Family revealed in-depth; best book on Charles Manson. - Dr. Dawson, who interviewed Charles Manson in prison, reveals in this book: 1) PSYCHOLOGY OF THE MANSON FAMILY; 2) MANSON FAMILY MEMBERS; 3) MANSON FAMILY CRIMES. Unlike the boring Helter Skelter book which is full of disjointed facts, MANSON FAMILY MANUAL tells the story on a deeper level, covering the basics of Charles Manson, the Manson Family and the crimes they committed or were suspected of doing. Many photos illustrate the Manson Family. Review: A really BIG book!! - I mean really big, like a telephone book. And reads like a school textbook. It's OK. Lots of pictures , but some of the pictures look kind of distorted or something ? Like thin people look fat ! Not too much I didn't already know. I have so many books and DVD's , documentaries on the Manson's . With that being said , I noticed some inconsistencies and incorrect information in this book. All the same, it isn't horrible , fairly interesting , but not the best. I like The Family by Ed Sanders a lot better. Paul Watkins and Dianne Lake's books are very good and informative too, very accurate. Recommend these over the Manson Family Manual. But a good book to add to your collection , if you collect them like I do.

If you are a completist when it comes to Manson books, I guess it is worth having???
Average book. Recommended over Helter Skelter by Vincent B. the D.A. Avoid the District Attorney's narrative at all cost. Roman Polanski and his Hollywood pals are pigs. Don't forget he raped a child. And you better believe he was cheating on Sharon Tate with underage females in the 60s with free love. Dawson tends to "waste" space by using large print and giant pages which could easily be more condensed and half the size of this book. The images also could be better quality. Xeroxed copy look in my opinion. Lots of content, but not the best. "NOW IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS REAL" by Sanders is one of the best books on Manson. Also the latest book Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties by Tom O'Neill.

Thorough 101 Guide
Basic but thorough 101 guide to all the people involved in this dreadful event, the author also added a ton of interesting photos. Very large book as well.

The pictures of the different Manson followers.
I have read a lot about the Manson "family". The in depth interviews and motivation of each follower was fascinating to me. It was so nice to see what the lesser known family members looked like and what they look like today. It's so heartbreaking to know these young seekers wrecked their lives for a very deranged creep.

cut and paste
This book is all over the place Normally, I don’t mind scattered thoughts as long as they’re relevant, well written and factually correct. Clearly, the writer cut and pasted various general facts, interviews, quotes and his own vague opinion together in this book. While the book manages to be accurate, it only covers the most basic details in the case More problematic is the style or lack of it This reads like Wikipedia meets scraps of Manson website and an uneducated pretending he’s got some kind of authority The Didion is low register It’s almost amusing to read psychological diagnosis about the people involved. The jargon is painful and the shallow quality of the writer’s observations betray how much this scribe doesn’t know. Masonites are hungry for fresh details like Tom O’Neil provided, not this chaotic mess of a summary. It feels like we were scammed to be honest . It’s offensive too. Writing isn’t easy . It demands a lot of work One collects information, checks, writes exposition and then determine the way he or she needs to sound and Approach the project Even the images and captions are all per the place There is no purpose for this manual I thought it was going to consider the psychology of the killers and family remembers Instead I get armchair diagnosis from a guy who speaks like my plumber
