GM Genuine Parts 15-10421 Air Conditioning Accumulator

Good fit and quality for my 01 Silverado with 250k on it.

Despite the Amazon "Fit" guide indicating that this would NOT fit my 2001-Chevy-Silverado-4.8L-Extended-Cab-Front-AC-Only truck I decided to take the chance because the part number was the same part number that came up on multiple other GM parts sites. It fit fine, was the same size as the old one, and comes with two replacement gaskets (not O-rings, gaskets). I installed this new accumulator with 2oz of PAG 150 (per the Chevy Service Manual); I also replaced the Expansion Tube, Low Side Schrader Valve, High Side Service Valve, lubed all threads, gaskets, and o-rings with 525 mineral oil (per spec), and installed 1.8# (per spec) of 134a refrigerant. All the pressures look good (you need a temperature and humidity chart -- see pic) and the air coming out of the vents at 80F ambient was 40F or below (48F max is the spec). The original failure in my system was the Low Side Schrader Valve but a mechanic friend of mine told me that as long as I was going to do some work on it I should replace all the other bits listed above as well since they are all of them original -- 24 years old and in the hot desert that whole time.

Worked perfectly for my 2005 Silverado 1500 Z71 with the 5.3 LS. Was a direct replacement, everything lined up perfectly.

There’s nothing wrong with the part. Just don’t be like me, make sure to look at the part on the vehicle before ordering a replacement. I went to Rockauto to find an OEM part number and it listed this accumulator as a replacement for my truck, but, it’s not. It will bolt up to the evaporator and sit in the bracket just fine, but, the outlet port doesn’t line up. As you can see in my pictures, the one installed is the original accumulator and the one I’m holding is the new one. On the original one, the low side pressure switch and the outlet are right next to each other. On the new one, the outlet is way off. Don’t try bending the line to make it fit, find an accumulator that works. I’m sure it’s a good quality part, just not what I needed for my application.

replaced O E M accumulator well cannot comment on performance due to the fact that this did not correct my problem.
