Must-have for first time homeowners!
I've only lived in apartments my whole life and my recent first home purchase happens to be a huge 3-story colonial. I've never been really handy or knowledgeable about homes so the idea of home maintenance in this large house was daunting, to say the least. I didn't even know how little I knew...I was pleasantly surprised by how many topics the book covers with handy tips to beginner-friendly instructions and useful pictures and diagrams. My fiance and I love it and will definitely be using this as our new housewarming gift for friends and family who are purchasing homes!

Sort of A Primer But It Goes On and On!!!
Well, I don't know if I can compose ENOUGH WORDS here (they seem to want you to be very talkative). Funny thing is I wanted a book to tell me how one tests continuity in an electric circuit. Still looking for layman's instructions for that. Actually a whole thing on multimeter use would be great. But I got a big surprise in this Kindle book. It just goes on and on with loads of tips about this and that. Like how to be prepared for and prevent home fires. How to insure your insurance rates don't go up. How to PATCH shingle damage! So I can hardly say I'm disappointed. This is not only a timely book but full of material for all of us not "handy guys" who own houses anyway. So if you fall in that category, go for it. If you've done most of your work for yourself for years, this may be too basic for you. One interesting example. In the section on saving on heating bills, it shows how to caulk the space between foundation and wood frame to stop leakage. I didn't know that latter piece even existed. The energy audit pointed out leaks at that spot, but the auditor did NOT talk about the caulking solution

Very clear, comprehensive, useful book
Covers a load of areas with simple tips and diagrams - even an expert homeowner will know less than half of them, and what they do know they're probably really proud of knowing. It's honest and authentic, telling you when to hire professionals and when you can save your money.

Damaged upon arrival
The pages were folded over and I pressed them flat as I could and still didn’t work. This is a gift and now I have to replace it and hope that this time it doesn’t arrive damaged. I was supposed to drop it off today. Now I have to wait and see if I can even have the gift ready by tomorrow morning.
