My friend is a novice when it comes to bow ties. He only owns one: a polyester blend, pre-tied, and pre-packaged with suspenders, by a well-known American designer. He initially bought it for a 1920s party and has worn it on several other occassions in response to all the compliments. Easter was rapidly approaching and he had puchased a fabulous pink and white striped oxford. It didn't take much persuasion to convince him to combine it with a bow tie. I thought he could step-up and purchase a silk tie. I selected this one based on another reviewer (by a frequent Pensee bow tie purchaser who had placed a link to this tie on another review). I did not realize it was a "real" bow tie and that my friend would need to learn how to tie it himself. Though there was a learning curve, as there always is with something completely new, it was quite worth it! (Incidentally, he recommends a youtube video by Pursuityourself for newbies like himself.) After this experience, we could easily recognize pre-tied bows easily -- even across the room. The pattern is brocade, meaning it's actually woven in, rather than printed on. This gives it a heft and style a notch above the rest. It reads very high-end and truly elevates the chic factor. The colors are bright, but the deep background maintains balance and moves it from being "trendy" to classic. He has worn it once, so I cannot comment on durability. There was a little fuzz around the ege of the fabric, but could only be seen if you are about two inches away from the man's neck. I'm very pleased with this purchase and he was very pleased with all the comments he received: "dapper," "sophisticated," and "charming" were just a few. Tip for Single fellows: ladies love bow ties. Perhpas we aren't even able to tell you why, but the fact is, most ladies find bow ties irresistable, especially this one. Maybe it's the pattern, maybe it's the color. Just wanted to let you know!

I purchased this tie for part of a 20's costume. As such, I didn't want to spend a mint. The tie has a nice look and texture to the material. It is easily adjustable through the standard hook and hole method however the proper sizes are not printed next to the holes. I had to match it up with another bow tie of mine and after 3-4 times of trial and error, I got it to be the proper length. The tie ties nicely but I did find it difficult to get nice dimples for the sides. Normally, a tie with a bit more thickness to the material will naturally pucker or cave in the middle next to the knot. I found this to actually have more of a "fold" where the bottom part folded over the top slightly. I probably could have tried to retie multiple times to get it just right but was happy with what I had. In all, I am happy with the product received based on the price. It is nice enough quality that I will wear it again and not just for a costume. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but that is reflected in the budget price. I would also purchase from the same company again.

My husband needed a tie for an upcoming event. The tie arrived quickly and was a wonderful accessory for his suit. It looked exactly as described, it was easy to assemble and it's now a permanent part of his bow tie collection.

These ties were advertised as going to a 22" neck size. I have an 18.5" collar and these ties are "just" long enough if I don't hook the adjuster into the ties and let the fact that it will not pass through the loop on the other half hold the tie in place. Love the colors and fabric. Just wish they had been truthful as to the length. But then again these are made in China and shipped from there. Wish I could find ties made in America that are the right size and reasonably priced.

il m' a été impossible de faire un noeud papillon avec l'objet fourni . j'ai été voir des videos sur youtube mais aucune n'est satisfaisante et je n'ai pas pu nouer le noeud . la qualité du produit est excellente par contre . n'achetez pas ce genre de noeud si vous ne savez pas les nouer .

Apart from formal wear I've never worn a bow tie. I thought that one might be more comfortable and practical than the dangle-in-the-soup variety so the opportunity for a cheap start to try one out seemed just the thing. The tie is silk, looks good and ties easily as it's substantially less flared - butterfly shaped - at the ends than my dress tie. It's adjustable for size with a little plastic T-bar hooking into one of a series of holes in the black connecting piece at the back. This looks like a bit of a flimsy set-up as compared with the more usual little sliding buckle but the tie won't need adjusting often if it's just me using it - and I think it will be. The first outing for the new look was dinner for my wife and junior daughter at a smart London venue. I expected the womenfolk to amuse themselves at some length at my expense but not a bit of it. Admiring looks and complimentary comments were the order of the day. So - job done. I have a new look.
