⚓ Build Your Legacy with the IJN Battleship HARUNA!
The Fujimi 1/350 IJN Battleship HARUNA is a highly detailed plastic model kit that requires assembly and painting. At a scale of 1:350, this model represents a battleship measuring 150m in length at full size, translating to a compact 42.8 cm. Perfect for hobbyists and collectors, it offers an engaging way to explore naval history while showcasing your craftsmanship.

The model arrived well package with no damage. I will look forward to constructing it. Has it turns out I have the other two ships-in 1/350 scale- that made up the 1st battleship division of the Japanese navy in 1944.

Fujima 1/350 IJN Haruna review
Beautifully detailed model , especially the small parts like the mounted binoculars on the observation platform. Had to do very little filling ,everything pretty much fit like a glove. Great decals for the float planes. My only disappointment was mine didn't come with the Photo eched parts or crew figurines as asvertised. Will build IJN Fuso next.

Highly detailed model of highly active WWII battleship
The Japanese battleship Haruna gained some notoriety in World War II for having been claimed sunk on several occasions. In fact, though, she was one of the IJN's most active capital ships, serving in almost every major battle and not being put out of action until almost the very end of the war.Fujimi has created a highly detailed model of this ship. The pieces are finely molded and fit together quite well. I appreciated the attention to detail that Fujimi used, even down to the smallest parts, and even in areas that aren't visible on the finished product. For example, the two sides of the hull are held together in their proper position by about a dozen or so transverse braces. These pieces are molded in such a way as to resemble ship's bulkheads, even though they are inside the hull and won't be seen once the deck is attached. The modeller does need to take care and not rush, though, because some of the fittings are very precise, and even a minor misalignment will throw things off. This is particularly true of the pagoda-mast structure, which is built level-by-level and then "speared" by the vertical masts at the end of the process. If built correctly, the holes for the masts will be aligned properly and the masts will slip right in. But if not . . . well, some dis-assembly might be required. Extra care should also be used on those hull braces (try dry-fitting each one first, just to make sure it goes in all the way on both sides) and when attaching the main deck pieces to the hull. There are dozens and dozens of teeny-tiny pieces, such as bollards, binocular mountings, etc. Tweezers are a must! And be careful when you cut them off the sprues, or else those itty-bitty pieces are liable to go flying, never to be seen or heard from again. The instructions are pictorial-based and easy to follow. However, it's a good idea to think through the totality of each step before actually building it, because in a few cases I found it to be easier to modify the order of assembly (within each step). The booklet includes some photographs of the real ship and a narrative description of her service history, which I'm sure I would find very interesting if only I could read Japanese. There is also a full-color poster showing the ship from various angles, very helpful for painting and suitable for taping to your wall if you feel like displaying a poster of a Japanese battleship. It took me quite some time to build this model, and that's even though I didn't bother painting it (except for the floatplanes, which inexplicably come molded in clear plastic). But I am very happy with the result. I did make use of an after-market "wooden" deck sticker that I think significantly enhances the model's appearance. (If you do choose to buy this, be very careful when applying it; it's a sticker, not a decal, so it needs to be applied correctly the first time.)If you are interested in the Japanese Navy, and enjoy building models, I highly recommend this kit.
