Clean Warm Sound. Easy to carry. Very well built.
Bought this for my daughter so she can do a performance. Tried it out with her electric guitar and the sound coming out of it is clean and clear. At first, I was wondering if I wasn't hearing the amp since it seemed like the strings were making the sound, but then I realized that the sound coming out of the amp was close enough to the sound from the strings that I couldn't easily tell them apart. This is a great deal for the price. The size is great for lugging around and the unit's 8" speaker can definitely belt out the sound. Definitely going to play with the hi/mid/low adjustments to give better balance between the upper and lower ranges from the guitar. There are cheaper kits out there... but this is a great unit for the price if you don't want any built-in effects and don't want to deal with USB/firmware updates like some of the amps out there. Note, was deciding between this unit and the KT108, which is a keyboard amp system. The main difference as far as I can tell between the two units, beside the external aesthetics, is the 3 pin XLR input on this one and the second 1/4" input jack on the KT108. With a balanced XLR to 1/4" jack cable or adapter, you would be able to plug in a second guitar. Each input has its own volume dial, which is nice. But the hi/mid/low adjustments is for the output only. Notes about hiss/hum. I had the unit plugged into a guitar and dialed up to about 5/6 on the instrument volume and I did not hear any his. If the cable plugged in is connected to a loose jack with poor insulation, however, that's when I hear hiss. Update: So getting the strings to balance on the output was fairly straightforward: adjust the guitar's outputs so that it's not favoring the bass strings. :) And adjust the amp's outputs so that the hi bands are getting more amplification. I suspect this unit can work with a wide range of instruments, just need to ensure the settings are optimized for your instrument.

An acoustic amp that has tube sound and PC hookup
This is a great little box. I bought it because it focuses on the acoustic guitar and emulates a tube amp. It sounds exactly like a tube amp. It doesn't actually have a real tube, but doesn't claim to have one. If the tube sound is not what your looking for you can tone down the base and mid and turn up the high to get back to the modern sound. I also have a real tube amp, a Bugera 5 watt, that was twice as expensive, but it doesn't sound as good as this amp, however the bugera is not geared towards acoustic guitars. I hook my laptop up to this amp by using a special cable I bought at Radio Shack. I connect the headphone output on my laptop to the CD input on the amp. That way I can play along with songs that I have downloaded. A lot of amps do not have the CD input jack hookup but this does. With my PC, headphones and guitar all connected to this amp, I can be very quite and not disturb the neighbors. There's no gain adjustment or distortion of any kind but an acoustic guitar player normally doesn't want those, or will have them as low as possible. I hooked up my electric guitar to this amp, a Squire Strat and an Epiphone hollow body. Surprisingly, the Strat sounded great, but the Epiphone hollow body sounded poor. The Strat sounded like early Beatles. I guess because the early Beatles always used tube amps with no distortion. They also used hollow body guitars with tube amps, like on their song The Night Before. Ah but I digress. The Hollow Body and Strat are not acoustic guitars and not meant to be played on this amp. My Acoustic Fender Kingman sounds superb with this amp. It sounded better then I expected. It really sounds acoustic and tube like. So, to sum it up: The good news: Has tube sound, CD input, you can connect your computer to it. The downside, the fake leather covering looks cheesy. No Gain or reverb control. Some electric guitars will sound a bit muffled.

great little practice amp
I have played, listened to, and used audio amps for over 4 decades, and while I haven't owned every name brand amp on the planet, I do know my way around them well enough to spot a good deal when I see one. This is a nice little practice amp for electrified acoustic guitar, with an input for a mic (XLR - no phantom power) and a CD player or other audio source. It also has a headphone output (1/4 inch). It has three tone controls and separate volume for the guitar and mic inputs. I got this originally for my mother, who used to sing in an Andrews Sisters-type group back in the day. She still loves to sing, and wanted a small amp and mic to practice and do the occasional small jam. She hasn't had the opportunity to do that yet, but I have tested the amp and put it through its paces. I think it will work fine for the kind of thing she has in mind. The lack of reverb or processing for the mic is a bit of a drawback, but considering what I paid for it, I can't complain. Now, this is not a gigging amp, at least not in my opinion (your mileage may vary). It is small, solid state, with an 8 inch speaker, and 15 watts of power (I haven't measured the exact output, so I'm taking Behringer's word on that). I like Behringer, and they can turn out some pretty good gear, within its limits. I like the sound of the amp with my Carvin acoustic guitar with a Fishman preamp. It is an inexpensive practice amp, so I don't expect the same kind of quality I would from a more serious combo amp. The 8 inch speaker is obviously not going to give the kind of sound quality as a good 12 inch, no matter what. The question is, does this amp provide the sonic quality and flexibility needed to allow serious practice work, composition, or just moderate entertainment value? For me, that answer is a clear "yes." However, this is an inexpensive practice amp, and if you approach it with that attitude, I think you will find it a nice little amp. Don't plan on using it for your next tour with Manhattan Transfer, Seal, or Celine Dion.

Pros: - great sound (for both acoustic and electric guitars) - looks good - the brown is a bit classier than the usual amplifier black - loud for its size - compact and light - XLR and line inputs as well as instrument input - power cable is attached (ie won't get lost) and fits nicely into the back for carrying Cons: - background buzz when using headphones (ok for practicing but too noisy as a line out) - treble control introduces a prominent hiss when turned up - no volume control for line input - control knobs feel flimsy

Buon amplificatore per chi, come me, suona in casa. Venditore serio e onesto.
