Sold Grill Mat - Great addition to your BBQ
Let's start out with I was skeptical about these things. Everyone has seen the infomercials and we all know how thing seem. Well I decided to get one to try it out but I researched it here on Amazon and decided on these. They are thicker than the competition and you pay for it. Well worth the money. I have a 6 burner Ducane Stainless. This was the first grill I tried it on. After heating up the grill with the mat on it, I put some chicken, ribs and hot dogs on it. To my surprise, not only did it cook them well, but it left grill marks. It truly cooked everything well. So yesterday, here in Northen NJ, the weather was not the best. We were having our closing ceremonies for softball and used a 6 burner event grill. Now it is an open grill (no lid) but has a wind screen. We were trying to cook hamburgers on it. We have used it once before and the burger take a while to cook and tend to fall through the grates. The person cooking was at it for about 3 hours frustrated. I went home and brought these to him. Dropped them on the grill and watched the magic happen. We didn't even let it warm up, just started cooking. Not only did it keep the burger from falling through, but he said it was taking half the time to cook them. My guess is because it disperses the heat evenly across the mat or so it seemed. I put some hot dogs on there as well and just made it super easy to cook. Just roll them to cook the other side. Everyone who walked by the grill was asking what those were and the cook was just saying how impressed he was by them. I told them they are like the ones you see on the infomercial, just thicker, better but cost a bit more. Then I told them they can be reused about 200 times. That blew them away. People were asking me what brand they were and I told them KONA. Look, if you're going to try one just to see what it can do, get a cheaper one. But you will regret not spending the extra few dollars fro this one. I have felt those and this one is definitely thicker which makes it easier to use like how a griddle would be. Yes, the grease still drops off into your bbq unlike a griddle, but not a big deal. It cleaned relatively easy from cleaning while on the bbq to bringing it to your sink and some soap and water cleans it off. There are grill marks left from where it was, but not like it burned in. I'll add pictures so you can see. Solid product. I bought this at full price. No discount, nothing free. This is my opinion of the product. Hope it helps. Great father's day gift for the BBQ dad's out there.

Good value for the money!
I love the customer service, the product is just a bonus! It is pricey for what it is but the customer service is what you are paying. It’s a strong type material can not really tell if it plastic. Definitely durable and should last some time. The color is a charcoal gray. It cleans pretty well even when left a few hours later. I wish there were instructions since I am a first time user. I am sure it straight forward but given instructions and use ideas would be awesome!

MUST HAVE FOR GRILLING FANATICS!!
I love to BBQ! Every weekend one of my 3 grills or smokers are getting put through their paces. The only deterrent to my passion for BBQ grilling is the work and effort it takes to keep your grill grates cleaned and seasoned (if you use cast iron like I do). Well, Kona BBQ Grill Mats have completely negated my worry over cleaning grill grates. I bought these Mats off the suggestion of a coworker who brought them to one of our end of the month cookouts. She cooked bacon wrapped shrimp and veggies on this and I had to know where she got them. She pointed me to these mats on Amazon. I've had these since Thursday, 8/30/2018. First, they came in a large flat box, and were packed very solid. They were completely flat and protected. The package flyer was very colorful, and clearly displayed what you were getting. This goes a long way, after some of the packaging that I've received from other sellers on Amazon. I took the mats out of the protective plastic that they came in, washed them in soap and water (as instructed) and immediately put them on the preheated gas grill. I got the internal temp up to around 500 and then cooked (you guessed it) some bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken kabobs. They came out perfect, grill marks and all!! The mats took the heat without any issue. They evenly and perfectly cooked the shrimp, all the veggies and the bacon without issue. (Disclaimer; I precooked the bacon to reduce the amount of time to cook........shrimp cooks faster than the bacon otherwise would have). On Sunday, I decided to give these a go on my charcoal grill with some burgers, onions and peppers. Again, I placed these directly over hot coals, put the burgers and veggies on top, and they came out perfect, grill marks and all). What I realized at this point was how fast these mats cool off after you remove them from the heat source. In a matter of seconds after taking these off the grill, they were cool enough for me to handle with my hands. Washing these after cooking is as simple as putting them in the sink, and washing down with soap and water. Food does not stick.........even the residual that overcooks on the mats. Today (Labor Day) I decided to do a comparison with some rib-eyes. In the pictures you'll see that I cooked two rib-eyes on the mat and one directly on the grill. I set the grill temp to 500 (for a good sear) and placed the mat on the right side of my grill (which is the hotter side for some reason). Of course, I got more distinct grill lines on the steak directly on the grill. HOWEVER, I got a great medium rare cook with the steaks on the grill mat. They steaks on the mat also were more flavorful, as the juices didn't run off into the grill, but instead cooked on top of the mat. Therefore all the seasoning remained with the steaks! And again, after cooking these, I pulled the mats off the grill immediately with tongs, and before I could finish shutting the grill off they were cool to the touch. Oh, did I mention that my grates were absolutely pristine (except for the side that I cooked the steaks on directly). I'll provide an updated review after several more weeks of use. So far, however, these are well worth the buy and a MUST HAVE for serious grillers that want to cut down on cleanup of messy grates. One of my all-time best buys so far!!

Great mat, handles high heat really well!
I've been grilling since before I could drive, and consider myself an amateur 'grill master'. I can test meat temperature by feel, and dial in a perfect done-ness to thin cross-cut shortribs as easily as a 2" bone-in ribeye. I can flip fish without breaking and routinely grill vegetables and fruit for sides and desert right next to piles of meat. I must say, I haven't yet tried this on the grill yet, but after using it the first time this weekend I'm excited to give it a go! I bought these instead for use in my new RV. Being one who loves outdoor adrenaline activities (mountain biking and rock climbing, among other things) and living in Colorado, I recently had a 4x4 van converted to an adventure RV, and since I boondock (read: no hookups) everywhere I go, being efficient was critical. So I ditched the propane and went totally diesel and solar for all my heating and power needs, including a Webasto X100 cooktop for a stove. During a hunt for the perfect stove I ran across a video ad from a small RV company Down Under who exclusively uses these diesel stoves. It looks like a typical glass-top electric stove, but instead has a ceramic element that gets heated with a diesel burner and quickly gets up to extremely hot temperatures. This company gave a professional chef an RV for a week and asked him to cook whatever he liked, and to use the stove in a number of ways. He demonstrated using this stove as a grill by throwing a silicon barbecue mat on it, grilling up burgers on it while toasting the buns next to the burgers just as you would on a grill. He advised getting a thick, quality mat due to the temps this stove was capable of putting out. After reading reviews complaining about maximum temperatures of other mats as low as 450 deg F, and melting holes in them after a few uses, we ordered a Kona Mat and headed out for a weekend in the woods, and put the mat through its paces. We seared meat on it, made quesadillas, toasted bread and tortillas while making chili--no matter what we used it for, it was absolutely fantastic. The mat took high temps really well, no smoking, scorching or melting. We never needed to oil the mat, it was completely nonstick regardless of what we cooked on it. It also cooled down extremely fast, no worries about it damaging anything in our small RV after cooking. And cleanup? I don't know that we even had to wash it, as food came off so easily and left no trace (we did anyway though, better safe than sorry!!) Couldn't be happier with it, I'm now excited to try it out on my Weber Genesis E-330 which puts out a TON of heat. I have zero worries about melting after putting it directly on the stove glass top in the RV. I'm also excited to make pizza on it in the RV; I'm pretty sure if I can come up with a good cover, it will get the dough grill-perfect and make really tasty pizza while camping! Well done, Nickle's Arcade!

Great for Veggies
I'd seen these, or products like them, advertised for some time but resisted the urge to buy one. Finally decided to "splurge" and bought these mats from Kona. They come two in a box and are glossy jet black. The picture shows ribs or grooves in the surface. Mine are smooth as a babies behind. But they do the job. They keep soft or delicate foods from either sticking to the grill or falling through as advertised. I took some fresh zucchini, onions, peppers, and snow peas from the garden and grilled thew up on one side of the grill while cooking chicken on the other. Worked great. One problem.... they don't have any kind of lip or raised edge so stirring and turning small pieces was a challenge cause they kept wanting to slide off.

AS ADVERTISED!! DEFINITELY WORTH THE EXTRA FEW $$'s!!! Amazing product! Amazing barbecue!
Like the brand title says -"BEST BBQ GRILL MAT"! I was genuinely IMPRESSED w/the performance of these grill mats and had never used them before! The chicken came out moist, near perfectly cooked and for those of you wondering if you have grill marks on your barbecue meats the answer is 'YES'! I put the grill mat in when I fired up the grill. Came in, made the barbecue sauce, cleaned the chicken breasts-then took them out to the grill; do NOT put barbecue sauce on the chicken breasts/thighs/wings/steaks/burgers, etc.-a little room temp butter rubbed on the surface of the meat side DOWN is ok-after placing the chicken breasts-breast side down/bone side up and w/ the hickory starting to smoke- I placed them on the mat and rechecked them in 30 minutes at 400 degrees and the grill marks were on the breast skins! I slathered on some sauce to the bone side, flipped them, slathered some sauce on the breast skins and closed the lid again for another 35 minutes +/- (as I use a meat thermometer and as long as it reads 160 degrees '+' that is fine for me on chicken) and they were done to perfection. No burned skin from grease fires. The sweet potato wrapped in foil on the top rack was done as well. Slathered some more sauce on the chicken and placed them on the serving plate w/the sweet potato and brought them inside. I was curious where I had just shut down the grill if I could remove the mat barehanded or with a tong to give it a quick rinse as per the instructions. I was able to grab the mat w/my bare hand/fingers and take inside, put under the running water, quick sponge wash, mat was clean and dried in the rack. The chicken was moist, the skin just right, the sweet potato delicious w/ butter on each half and a little seasonings. Best darn chicken breasts I have EVER barbecued. I am very happy I ordered 2 packs so I have 4 mats in case of company-6 people- but 2 mats easily would protect your barbecued meats for 4 people. Just a suggestion, Keep the burner under the hickory/mesquite at medium or so, the next burner on high at all times, the next burner on high, the next on low as the mat is above and the last burner is off. What a near shocking surprise to have something so ingenious to make barbecuing a TRUE JOY now! You do not have to stand around and watch/check your barbecue; just leave it alone for 30 minutes at a clip or so, enjoy your friends, family and liquid refreshments!
