Goodnight Max (Max and Ruby) Board book – February 1, 2000

My 2-year-old is a bookworm, and watches very little TV, but one show she adores is "Max & Ruby". So when I saw this book online, I quickly ordered it. My daughter loves the book because it's about Max and Ruby, and the dozen+ tactile inserts are still interesting enough to her countless readings later. HOWEVER, it's very strangely written. The story does not 'flow'; the writing style itself seems stilted and awkward. So when she asks us to read it every night, I 'enthusiastically' indulge her, but ugh...

My almost 3-year-old granddaughter is obsessed with Max and Ruby. I purchased this little book along with the Max and Ruby 14" plush dolls from Amazon.com to give her for her upcoming birthday. I will put a little doll blanket (or baby blanket) in with this so Max will have something to sleep with at night. My granddaughter is so into babydolls and books and this is a precious little book for her. She will be delighted!

The book is cute and it has a couple of interactive touch spots for kids to learn from, but the book is clearly made for a 6 month-1 year old. My daughter loves the Max & Ruby series and I have been looking to get her some merchandise. Unfortunately, none of the books I have ordered (that are listed on Amazon at least) compare to the show. Very little story and just a lot of thick paper.

My 8 month-old loves this book. He makes a little happy noise when we start reading it to him, and feels each texture in turn. And, as a parent, I find it more fun to read than the average baby board book. We had borrowed this from the library, and enjoyed it so much that I had to buy a copy of our own.

I purchased this book for my 2 year old son who is a huge Max and Ruby fan. This has become a new favorite book, he loves the different touch and feel items on almost all of the pages. It's also just a fun story about Max trying to get to bed. Such a great book for toddlers it's become a must before bed each night. I highly recommend it.

Frankly, I found this book disappointing. My daughter loves Max and Ruby books, but for some reason this one seems oddly written -- it lacks good flow and cadence; it doesn't roll off the tongue like most Max and Ruby books do.I will also add, that, while the tactile elements of the book are interesting, I feel like they're too much of a distraction for a bedtime book -- typically I'm looking for a book that doesn't exactly stimulate my toddler when I'm trying to get her to calm down and relax. If this had been a book for any other part of day, complete different story.

My grandson loves to watch Max and Ruby on tv. When I got this book for him, he was thrilled. He loves to touch the things on each page to feel the different textures. He would rather listen to the book than watch the tv show.

We've had this book for about a month now, and we read it at least 4 times a day (once or twice before nap and before bed, plus a few extra times). Hands down, this is my two-year old daughter's all time favorite book so far.

I bought this item when my son was under a year old and would read it to him at bed time. As he has got older it has been one of his favourite books as each page has something different to touch or move or pull around. It is quite simple but seems to be a hit with an under two year old.

Max is the business !
