The coconut smell is there, but it's not overwhelming or pungent, which is why I'm a big fan of this brand. It's great for my skin (I slather it all over my legs and elbows), and I recently used it as a hair mask overnight. My hair was so soft and shiny afterwards!

This oil is the best. I always use it to cook with. No after taste at all. It's an awsome deal.

Best coconut oil out there for making pot butter

I was surprised I would like this--being a refined product and I rarely choose that. What surprised us the most is that the texture isn't like most (at least unrefined) coconut oils that we have had before. The texture is very much like biting into creamy butter. It is just incredibly smooth. Having said that, if you want the coconut flavor, you will be disappointed. I really enjoy the coconut flavor, and use this to not only cook and bake with, but also to make toothpaste and other health/beauty items. I have a disabled child whose diet I try to add coconut oil to--but perhaps with this texture and lack of coconut taste, he will eat a biteful daily. I have used another brand from Amazon that I can also find in my local store. It has often (not always--which is more frustrating because there isn't consistency) tasted like a soapy after taste. This item does not have that. It arrived exactly when expected.
