EcoGear was my BEST choice!
A professional product distributed by a reputable company named EcoGear. I unpacked the package and saw this sleek black box containing some very impressive contents. The little solar flashlight with three leds is really bright; much brighter than my old penlight. The Tactical LED Flashlight is of heavy duty aircraft grade aluminum and the zoom slide is really slick and moves with precision. It has a nice heavy feel to it without being too heavy. The front of the light has some built in tapered waves and would do serious damage to someone foolish enough to attack me before I could draw my 9mm. The included batteries are the best on the market according to my research. I used the included AAA battery holder with some alkaline batteries and that was sooo bright that I couldn't wait to charge the lithium ion batteries and see what it could do with full power. I put the batteries in the included charger and into the wall plug. Nine hours later the indicator light was still red. Oh well, I put the sleeve on one battery and tested it in the flashlight. Hmmm, not so great. I checked the batteries with my tester and they were 4.2 volts and around 600 mAmps, and very, very hot. I complained by email to the company and the response was "it's OK". I sent another email explaining that the batteries were overcharged because of a defective charger. Then EcoGear came through with flying colors. Two days later I had a new charger and a set of new batteries. Put the new batteries in the charger and about 7.5 hours later the green ready light came on. The batteries were not even warm and tested OK. Put one in the flashlight and BAM, just like the pictures (taken with a long exposure to emphasize brightness), it sure was bright. It lit up an entire 35 foot tall tree about 150 feet away. Not too shabby! The button on the rear worked fine with a full press for on and off with full power. Medium, low, "blinder" and SOS worked fine with a half press. Then I turned off all the lights at home and ran the flashlight through all the settings. WOW! I sure am glad I bought this and twice as glad I chose EcoGear as my supplier. And they were $5 less expensive than their competition. BTW, unlike many of the other 5 star ratings I was NOT compensated or given a discount for this review.

Great Flashlight! Excellent company!
I was very skeptical ordering this flashlight with all of the mixed reviews. Some of the reviews that were low rated talked about the flashlight not working after a day or so. I received this flashlight and was very happy with the packaging, overall integrity and brightness of the flashlight. I am a boiler inspector and inspect in darker areas everyday so this flashlight was great. Turns out the next day the flashlight would not work. I am not going to lie I was very upset with it because I really liked the flashlight and was more depressed that I had to go back to my old flashlight. Basically I started out going through the Amazon return process. This was not something I wanted to do because I received the flashlight in two days and it was not going to be another week or two to have my money refunded. Instead of taking that route I contacted EcoGear FX. I explained the situation to the customer service representative by email. The next day I received an email from EcoGear FX stating that they were sending me a replacement with two day shipping and that the flashlight had been tested. I was very happy with the customer service and the flashlight now works great. So for anyone who has placed a negative review on this flashlight I ask you if you talked to the company? My experience with EcoGear FX was excellent and I couldn't ask for better service. Now for the flashlight. The flashlight seems very durable and well constructed. In the short time I have had it I have dropped it more than once without any negative impacts. There are different light modes on the flashlight. I could do without the strobe or SOS for my line of work but they are there and I am sure some people have a use for them. The bright mode is very bright and I reguraly use the focus on the light depending on the situation. I am still on my first battery and have not had to charge the batteries again. If you get a bad battery contact EcoGear FX and I am sure they will send you a knew one.I am giving this flashlight 5 stars because I really like the flashlight. If it were a week ago I would have given it one but thanks to the excellent customer service I received from EcoGear FX I am very satisfied. They did not hesitate to send a new one nor did they question me about the situation. I highly recommend EcoGear FX and the flashlight.

Great light if you're looking to illuminate a large area
Great light for the price. I had a similarly sized Fenix which finally died on me. In all fairness I used it for years in my home inspecting business & it got dropped a lot. I'm not an inspector anymore so I decided to try a less expensive light. I am using this light daily when I take my dogs out in the dark. I live in the mountains so there is absolutely no other light near my home. This light is definitely bright enough to illuminate a large area for the dogs. I have a very old greyhound who has lost an eye & can barely see out of the other one (he's totally blind in the dark). The light from this flashlight is plenty bright enough for him to be able to find his way around.I would say this light is best when set on its widest illumination area. If you need a light to focus on small things/details I wouldn't go with this one. This light has a square shape when on its smallest setting & the square has lines/dots in it. I could not have used this as a home inspector because I needed a bright clear view of things like water spots on ceilings. The interference with this light would make it impossible to find tiny little water spots, for example. So...if you want a camping light or a light that will provide a wide illumination area I would definitely recommend it...but not if you're trying to focus in on little things. The light is comfortable to carry & doesn't weigh much. The batteries last a respectable amount of time. I'd say I'm getting about 10 days before I recharge & I'm generally out 2 times per night for at least 8 to 10 minutes each time; my light is on during that entire time. I'm happy with that & would say that life is comparable to my Fenix when it was newer.
