Serious topic!
Though written in 1936 this is a very serious book on the Chin Na application. The techniques shown and discussed are for the very serious martial artist or even for a novice to understand some of the mechanics of effective self defense.

A Practical book for a pragmatist
I want to say this will make a good book for someone who are training. In martial arts, that employs the essence of these technique. Though lots of the pictures need photo restoration or replaced. However the instruction makes sense to me. So I hope there is some change in those photos. Other than that I d say it s worth to buy.

Gruesome but Realistic
This is a gruesome and realistic book. You need more than just the right moves to disable an attacker (or victim for that matter) you need intensive strength training. This book only covers the moves part but it emphasizes the need for strength training for many of the moves. Do any of the techniques in this book work? I don't know because it would require me to maim or kill someone in order to test it out, and I have no need or desire to do so because I have an unrepressed empathy for the pain and suffering I can cause others by my actions and my built-in moral compass won't allow me to try it out for no good reason.

Potentially dangerous but effective.
This book demonstrates techniques that can be brutal, if applied in their most severe form, yet these same techniques can be used to control an attacker by arresting their movement and placing them in a helpless position. It is important to note that any competition can be lost and a struggle may escalate violence. Use caution, and practice or apply responsibly.
