How to Brew Yerba Mate … and the use of the gourd and bombilla: Brewing Yerba Mate needs time and an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, two ingredients that have become pretty scarce nowadays. A mate (the gourd) half full of yerba (the leaves) and a bombilla (the tube with the strainer or tea drinking straw) are also needed, The cebador (the person in charge of preparing the mate, or master of ceremonies) will then put his wet hand on the mate and shake it so that the powder, which comes with the yerba, will stick to his hand and so prevent the bombilla from getting blocked. This is the moment in which the bombilla has to be stuck into the mate and the water poured into it in such a way, that it has to glide along the bombilla, not wetting the yerba at the top… Review: Most delicious tea EVER! - The most delicious tea EVER! This is now my first choice in hot drinks. The serving size on the bag is off but I figured out that one tablespoon makes one cup serving and the flavor is so rich. I have used different flavorings with it such as organic Ceylon Cinnamon and fresh Ginger then sweetened it either with a little organic maple syrup or honey. It is important to use nice reverse osmosis water, pure clean water, as hot as it can get then let it steep for 10 to 15 minutes. It is such an enjoyable experience first thing in the morning. The most delicious tea EVER! I am hooked on it in the best of ways... Fresh and delicious yerba mate
Fresh and delicious yerba mate. This is a great and affordable way to keep up a supply of good mate outside of South America. Although opinions may differ, I think Amanda and Rosamonte make the best tasting yerba mate for the price and it's great that they're both available on Amazon,

Not my cup of tea
I am rating this 4 stars because it is one of the best values for mate. However, mate is new to me after reading much hype about the caffeine being much healthier than coffee. Take my review as that of a non-mate drinker. I didn’t find the drink enjoyable at all. I prepared mine like regular loose tea and added a little sugar after trying it plain. To my taste buds, this reminded me of green tea with a cigarette butt dipped in it. It isn’t undrinkably smoky, but there wasn’t much pleasant about the taste either. I didn’t notice any surge of energy I felt or a better mood afterward.
