High-Impact Instruction: A Framework for Great Teaching

It came very quickly in the mail. Can tell it was brand new.

By incorporating the ideas Knight presents into my lesson plans, my ability to develop well-rounded as well as more focused lessons has dramatically increased. I bought this book a year ago, when I was a wide-eyed first-year grad student who was determined to become an effective educator yet was confused by the many facets of teaching. I read this book over the summer before my second year of grad school, and I really appreciated this book; I liked the way it is organized, the way it features a mind map as well as a motivational quotation before each chapter. Knight has a knack for describing techniques and ideas in a clear, yet comprehensive way. Upon diving into my second year of grad school, I used this book as a source while writing papers and I incorporated Knight's techniques into my lesson plans. I more clearly grasp the topics my professors discuss because I already pre-learned them from this book. I'm looking forward to having my own class next year in which I can turn put the ideas into action.

Jim Knight's practical advice for student achievement is research based but also based on what goes on in actual classrooms. These ideas include information from several disciplines and it makes this not just a book for teachers. His up-to-date information is supplemented by QR codes that allow you to see the ideas put into action. Each idea is also given a checklist for implementation (another idea taken from the medical world).As a veteran teacher, I found this book to be an affirmation as well as a challenge to scrutinize every aspect of my teaching.

This book is so organized and chock-full of HOW-TOs, it could be the new bible for educators. Jim has identified high leverage instructional behaviors that make a difference for students! There are practical, easy to implement suggestions that related directly to performance in the classroom. Every teacher in the world could use this book to improve in some way -- even the very best teachers will find something here to improve and hone their craft!

I popped 8/10 balloons with this book so it's not bad. I still have my job but this year I think I'm going to have to hit 10 for 10. Jim knight is awesome and helped me keep my job. Most teachers lost their job and were replaced with a worn out college graduate desperate for a paycheck.

Book was in great condition. Enjoyed the structure of the book. Information was good.

Looking forward to using this with a book study group this coming school!
