4.4 Yard Cotton Ito Tsukamaki Sageo Handle Wrapping Cord Scabbard Rope for Japanese Sword Katana Wakizashi Tanto

I make custom bokken a and other martial art weapons and I got these to wrap bokken handles for customers who wanted it. They worked perfect. Thus far I've only used the imitation silk but I like the feel of them and they are far more affordable than the $7-$15 per foot of high quality silk Ito. If you're looking for something to wrap your training sword, or bokken, I haven't found a more affordable (and functional) option. I also like long handles and these wraps were able to do a 13" handle. If you go anything longer I would doubt you could do it only one strand.

Sageos that come with Katanas are flimsy and thin. This sageo has great color and firm. My Iaido instructor really likes it. It is red on one side and black on the other. When I tied it to the Saya I took same colored sewing thread and tied it tight around the sageo bunching the material. Added a drop of super glue then cut the sageo about 1/2 inch from the glued thread

This is still the cheap ito you would get if you buy a $60 chinese made sword. Don't expect this to be an upgrade if you bought one of those. That being said if you want to get it because you messed up your sageo or tsuka ito for your cheap sword go ahead and pick it up. Again it's not of good quality but I wouldn't call it rubbish.

This is not a Sageo, it just isn't. This product uses a cotton shoelace weave. There are cotton Sageos but they use a completely different weave. Just to be safe, from now on I'm sticking with silk.

Beautiful blend of colors bringing the extra flourish to your weapon. Also cord is very long, perfect for ninjutsu where you will use the sageo for a multitude of purposes.

I bought the green (not high quality) cord and it's a pretty color, but greener and less teal-looking than the photo. It's really more of a forest green. This makes it unsuitable for my sword project, but I might find another use for it.

Was expecting a silky feel - this cord has a feel like braided microfiber. Sticky in that weird way. Still, it looks good and deserves 4 stars. I was going to give it 3, but it deserves 4.

It's very obviously orange and not red and even though the product is worth the price I feel like I was mislead. I wanted the red to match the red accents on my uniform and instead it's Halloween colored.
