Nice Value
Great, sturdy, nice looking easel. It wasn't too hard to put together if you follow the directions carefully. It took about 45 minutes to an hour. It helps if you have a second person holding the parts occasionally though the process, but probably isn't absolutely necessary. It can hold quite large paintings. I have 3 foot x 3 foot paintings, and there was plenty of room on the easel.

Sturdy and beautifully engineered
The easel comes in neatly labelled packets along with screws and other elements to assemble it (also neatly labelled). The pack also has tools that are required to assemble the easel - so if you have nothing but the package, you can still put it together. Assembly The easel can be put together by 1 person. Reading and interpreting the instructions appropriately is needed though. The instructions are entirely pictorial which is great. There were 2 points during the assembly where a little bit more instruction would've helped. (1) Once the middle bar with the ratchets is attached to the box and you are trying to fit that in with the rest of the frame, it looks very tricky until you realize that placing the rest of the frame horizontally along the floor allows you to slide the middle bar and the box neatly into place (2) When attaching the upright part of the easel to the wheeled base, if you are trying to lift up the frame to align the holes in the base, it is going to be very heavy and tricky. Instead, placing the entire upright frame horizontally on the floor, placing the wheeled base also horizontally above the frame and aligning the holes is helpful. If you want, you can also lift the legs or pivot the frame on 1 edge (while still keeping it horizontally on the floor) so as to make it easy to align the holes and thread the screws. Overall look & feel Very sturdy, moves easily. The degree of flexibility it offers in moving the box and the clamp above as well as with the angle of the upright frame is incredibly helpful. Love it and would recommend it! :)

Very Nice Easel
Having just received and assembled the easel today this review is strictly a first impression. It was delivered via USPS and I immediately noticed that the shipping box had been damaged and one end had been torn open. Fearing the worst, I checked for damaged and/or missing parts. Everything was there but there had been some damage to the lower cavas support/storage area (see photo). I immediately contacted Meeden directly via email to inquire about a replacement for the damaged part. I wasn't expecting to hear back quickly; but I did....within an hour of my email. They apologized for the damage (it wasn't really their fault) and offered two solutions: a $15 refund or they'd ship a new part to me which they said could take 30-60 days. Of course, I could have returned the whole thing to Amazon but as you can see, the damage was cosmetic and in no way affected the functionality of the easel. Within another hour I had email confirmation of the refund to my original payment method. So from a customer service standpoint alone, this was a great purchase. The easel itself seems really sturdy and I'm glad I went with the model with the wheels. It moves around very easily and yet the wheels all lock quite firmly. Assembly was fairly straightforward but you do have to pay close attention to the diagrams provided in order to make sure that you're following the strict orientation of the parts. This is especially true when it come to the toothed rail used for the height adjustment. The hardware seems to be of decent quality. Adjustments are smooth and easily made. I work mostly in 16x20 but I know I could go significantly larger on this easel if I wanted to. I will try to remember to update this review after I get some paint on it.

Well made and easy to assemble
This is a super nice easel. I was concerned when I saw the small box it came in but when I opened it and started taking out the pieces, the quality was apparent. The instructions were easy to follow. I did drill the screw holes a little bigger to make it easier to get them in because my hands aren’t very strong. I’m so glad I bought this easel.

My wife lives and breathes for this easel. I need to get another one!
It's been several months since we purchased this easel, I wanted to wait to write a review until I was sure it was good. This easel is, in a word. Amazing. Moves like its light as a feather, my disabled wife can easely (that's a pun there) move it with her foot when she's painting if she wants to get a better spot for lighting. And the wheels lock really well when you don't want it scooting around, to the point she's resting her feet on the bottom horizontal support very comfortably for just about every painting. To do a quick nutshell, 1. Easy to change size of easel and adjust height - Literally takes one finger to do this even with a heavy canvas. Glides smoothly on the track. 2. Sturdy and does not topple. I fell into it and it caught me. It's like a wall of wood. 3. Simple, straightforward instructions but time consuming to put together. It took us about 20 minutes to assemble while watching the Office. 4. Hides paint well - looks good even well loved and used. 5. Drawer to hold brushes/paints is a little small. Oil paint seems to strip the finish off the walnut one we got, but other than that, no issues. 6. The canvas well is spacious but sturdy. The top support is adjustable for all standard widths of canvas stretchers (so my wife tells me). i am not being dramatic when I say this easel has completely reinvigorated my entire wife. She's a painting machine ever since we got this! My lady is also an interior design snob, but she loves the look and feel of this easel. She'll proudly post her works in progress with the Meeden logo showing and everything. I think she may be starting a cult around it, because she's telling everyone to go get one. If you want to treat your special someone who paints, get them this easel. Build it together with them while you watch a tv show, and they will love you forever. All I need to do now is get her a second one.

I love it!
Honestly I am very happy with this purchase. I've used it nearly every day and it's wonderful! It is sturdy, it is stable (won't wobble) and it can go so high up that I can't even move it all the way up because of my low ceilings. I am currently using it with a 24" x 18" Drawing Pad. The shelf is useful to put some small tools in it which you may need. On top of it all it looks fantastic. It's real wood (not DMF or plastic) and to be honest I couldn't be happier. I'm not sure how I survived without before now. The only thing I modified was flipping the top holder and using it to hold my drawing board. This allows me to make measurements without hitting the shelf. However, for painting I will once again flip the top part and use it to clamp down the canvas to the easel and move it as one. Also using the top part flipped to hold my board allows me to move it up or down as I see fit to work in different parts of the image. Really honestly happy with it. The clamps are there simply to hold the board so it won't fall out when I erase. Also putting it together was pretty easy. The only confusing part was which way did that middle piece go, but I quickly figured it out since really the thing only works one way.

Nice wood well made. Assemble very easy with excellent identification of parts for each step. Love the design and ease of adjusting slant and height.
