Gutsy Globe Trotting Females
I downloaded this to my Kindle unaware of the series status. Having not read book 1, I discovered it's OK, the story is strong enough to stand on it's own. I was a bit confused in the beginning as "the boy" is referred to by three different names. Once that became clear, a complex internatoinal tale takes off with two very gutsy females leading the way. We begin in America, a murder has been committed and "the boy" has confessed. Nadia, his guardian knows that this can not be. So she sets out to prove his confession counter factual. Instinct tells Lauren, our sleuthing journalist, "the boy" is someone other than who he claims to be. Uncovering these truths proves risky business for these determined ladies. To reveal the truth while keeping some facts hidden becomes quite the shuffle. From America to the Ukraine to Russia the trust no one tensions build. Events around the Chernobyl nuclear facility and aftermath are stirring. The time I spent immersed within these pages was rewarded with a rapidly moving, efficiently crafted original offering by very skilled author,Openly obvious set up at the end for the coming of book 3 and counting. And so I leave it here

A quality thriller
Ahh, it's back. That glorious, edge-of-your-seat tension that makes these books impossible to put down. Orest Stelmach has captured it once again.Bobby has been accused of murder and is thrown in prison. He confessed to the crime and refuses to talk to Nadia, even though she knows he's innocent. So she heads back to Ukraine to dig into the background of the victim. Meanwhile, a reporter is digging a little too deep into Bobby's background. Throw in a lifelong thief and crime boss trying to get his hands on Bobby's locket and you've got a quality thriller on your hands.

good part 2
The Boy Who Stole from the Dead is a good follow- up to the first novel in the series, The Boy From Reactor Four.In fact, to fully understand this book one must have read the first. I recommend it, just as I recommend this one.The story benefits greatly from its faithful description of Ukrainian countryside, including the Chernobyl nuke site. The depiction of local color, local people and local criminal class rang true to me, as far as I knew.It is a good story, with a fast pace and interesting characterization of all involved. The Ukranian-American criminal godfather and the Russian oligarch were both interesting to read about, and I hope both are in the next book. I look forward to the concluding episode. The book is not especially violent ( it is a mystery thriller, after all) . I recall no profanity and there are no sexual moments.Recommended.

Fascinating stories mingled with the history of The Ukraine People
I love this series so much. The author is a fascinating story teller. He seamlessly intertwines mystery, thriller writing with Ukraine and Russian history. I've learned about so much history as it actually was, unused of the scrubbed up version in American news. He mentions many books & stories in his story, and I have purchased them for my historical knowledge and curiosity. Thank you for these wonderful stories.

The story just gets better and better
WOW! I thought that the story in this series of books couldn't get any better., then the last book that I read in the series, "the boy from reactor four". Boy, was I wrong. I literally could not put the book down. I just couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what was going to happen next. This writer has quite an imagination. He has thoroughly done his research on all things having to do with Ukraine, which includes its culture, history, traditions and it's government. When I thought I had it all figured out. BAM!! There is a new and exciting twist in the plot that I never would have thought of. The writer really brings out the personalities in his characters. They become more interesting as the story continues and the plot thickens. Now I can't wait to read the next book in the series, "The boy who glowed in the dark".

a timely thriller
This was different that the usual thriller. A teen-age boy escapes Ukraine, goes to America but his skill at sport put him in the limelight, and make him and his guardian targets. This is set in New York and Ukraine. The modern history of Ukraine figures in this story. Ukraine's people, religions and language were diminished by the Soviet Union, and then began to flourish again after Ukraine separated from the Soviet Union. Given the current situation in Ukraine, the theme is compelling.I was absorbed by the story as the guardian, an independent financial analyst who speaks Russian and Ukrainian, delves into the mystery of the boy's background. Why are some Russian oligarchs after the boy?The ending is satisfying. I wish it were the same for Ukraine.

Very good mystery novel using Ukrainian folks and the area around Chernobyl as background
Terrific novel with a great concept: female hero with a cousin from the Ukrain. The villains are Russian and Ukrainian mafia types. The only fault I had is tracking the names and places. This is a five book series. Starting with a pre sequel one can become attached to the author and heroine. Having said that there will need to be more novels to complete the sequence. I prefer stand alone novels. The first several are stand alones, but some of the characters later introduced are being setup for later stories. I am reading "Voices from Chernobyl" which collaborates the activities in the Nadia Telsa novels.

The boy from Reactor 4 and The Boy Who Stole from the Dead, by Nadia Tesla
I enjoyed both of these books and look forward to reading the next book, when it comes out.I thought the author had a wonderful knowledge of Russian and, particularly, Ukrainian culture. I became very aware of the problems between the two cultures, and, consequently, the present conflict between the two countries. The plot was also interesting and very realistic. It was quite amazing to read how the forbidden/restricted zone of Chernobyle creates both a livelihood, possibilities for research and a place of hiding for many displaced person. The books are engaged in an intriguing plot line as well as very educational. I congratulate the author on her research, knowledge and wonderful writing skills.

A good and interesting thriller
After reading Orest Steimach's first novel I had been looking forward to his next book. And ok I don't think it is as good as the first one but I think it may be because I had never read anything so unique as the first novel. If you have never read The Boy From Reactor 4, you really must.Orest Steimach introduces you to a world that we don't know and wouldn't want to know - the dark world of eastern Europe. His characters are full and rounded and you care what happens to them, even the 'bad guys'. I loved following Nadia (the heroine) from New York to Ukraine. The descriptions of Chernobyl and the surrounding area made me think what it must have been like for the people who lived there. I will definitely read book number 3 which I am sure will follow

Having read The Boy from Reactor Four, I was ...
Having read The Boy from Reactor Four, I was compelled to read the follow up. It was a decent holiday read and followed on well from the first book. The side-kick brother was a bit of a convenient plot device but just about tolerable. What I found most intriguing was the insight into Ukrainian history and tension with Russia, given that I read this when these tensions were heightened again. It added a contemporary relevancy that made the book not only decent fiction, but also documentary.

Excellent!
This is the second book in the series of three and I really like the way that some of the same characters keep turning up. Twists and turns abound and don't disappoint. And the difficulties that the Ukraine and Russia are currently undergoing make these stories even more poignant. And exciting. Don't forget exciting.

The boy who stole from the dead
A great way to get the whole picture of what you want to know and understand how the whole world could be involved in the storyline and yet leave you want to read the next chapter in the series. I will be reading the next step. A really great book will highly recommend it to others.
