A Remarkably Excellent Book
This is a great commentary on the book of Jonah. I also recommend Bill Cooper's The Authenticity of the Book of Jonah. If the believer reads them both, he/she will likely have his/her eyes opened about many things. There is no other way to accept Jonah except as literal. God cannot lie and it is in HIS canon of Scripture. Jonah is cited specifically by our Lord Christ Jesus in the gospels as having been swallowed by a specific kind of great sea monster (from Greek lexicon and Cooper's book). Morris' book is a verse by verse exposition. Unfortunately, Morris didn't dig in much on some verses, but on other verses he goes into quite a bit of historical detail and theological comparison. Highly recommended.

Really in depth study
This book raised some very deep truths and thoughts that I never would have come to before reading the book. The generalized story is not the real story and it's sad because there is so much more. This book goes into these truths. I've given several as gifts and the people really enjoyed it.

highly recommend
Henry Morris writes heart-felt and very approachable, insightful books - not sophisticated, somewhat repetitious and in a 'self-published' style which belies the lack of formal editing (else a 5 star). No matter- I highly recommend his books. (I have a doctorate in Theology, by the way).

Good study guide
I'm a fan of Henry M. Morris' books, so I may be biased but I find this book to be a great study guide, digging below the surface and bringing to light details I probably wouldn't come up with on my own. I use it along with his book on Job and the Henry M Morris study bible and I can really get a good, in depth study time.

An Alternative View
Unlike the prior two authors, I found Henry's book both well researched and very compelling. If you enjoyed the Genesis Record, the Revelation Record or the New Defender's Bible, you enjoy the Journey of Jonah.Henry covers the history and background of the scriptures and provides a new insight into the sailors of Tarnish.Henry also provides a number of new perspectives and corollaries between Jesus and Jonah's perils.I came to the story believing the factual nature of the Bible story and did not need the evidence that Henry provides in dispelling the unbeliever ideas about it being an old wife's tale or simply a moral lesson. Jesus had the opportunity to dispel any misunderstandings of Jonah's story and instead choose to reinforce the details rather than diminish them.I found this book to be both informative and yet thought provoking. If you want a better understanding of the book of Jonah, then this is a great source of information and inspiration.

Not bad.
Haven't read any exposistions of Jonah before. Have read the Genius Record by Henry M Morris which is excellent. This is kind of light in comparison - but the book of Jonah is only short really. Interesting in parts. I believe Jonah is a literal happening. Probably good as a gentle introduction for a teenager.
